SCOOP: After Mirzapur The Movie’s success, Divyenndu set to headline a period drama next; to be seen in a never-seen-before avatar

2 weeks have passed since the release of Mirzapur The Movie and it continues to remain rock-steady. One of its lead actors, Divyenndu, appears to be gearing up for yet another interesting turn in his career. After making his presence felt across films and streaming projects in 2026, industry buzz suggests that the actor could next headline an ambitious period drama, which is currently in production.

The yet-untitled project is being produced by Endemol, and while the makers have kept details surrounding the film and Divyenndu’s character tightly under wraps, sources suggest that the actor will be seen in a striking, never-seen-before avatar. If the development is indeed true, the period drama would mark yet another unexplored space for the versatile performer.

2026 has already emerged as a significant year for Divyenndu. The actor has enjoyed the success of Peddi and Mirzapur The Movie, while also making an impact in the streaming space with Netflix’s Glory. The varied slate has once again highlighted his ability to move seamlessly between formats, genres and vastly different characters.

Interestingly, the year also marks 15 years since Divyenndu’s breakthrough with Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011). Since then, the actor has steadily built a career around distinct roles and unconventional choices rather than allowing himself to be confined to a particular image.

From comedy and crime to action and drama, Divyenndu has repeatedly experimented with his screen persona. A period drama, therefore, could offer audiences another fresh side of the actor and add a new dimension to his evolving filmography.

For now, details regarding the period, scale, supporting cast and Divyenndu’s role remain under wraps. An official announcement from the makers is awaited.

Meanwhile, Mirzapur The Movie is all set to cross the Rs. 200 crore mark in the coming weekend. Its success has stunned the industry, especially as it marks the first time in India that a popular series has been turned into a theatrical film.

EXCLUSIVE: Abundantia Entertainment and Almighty Motion Picture join hands for Kodaikanal Mercury thriller Heavy Metal

Abundantia Entertainment, led by Vikram Malhotra, and Almighty Motion Picture, led by Prabhleen Sandhu, have joined hands to produce Heavy Metal, a feature film based on Ameer Shahul’s investigative book Heavy Metal: How a Global Corporation Poisoned Kodaikanal, published by Pan Macmillan. The film is currently in pre-production, with principal casting underway and filming expected to begin soon.

The project will explore the mercury contamination controversy in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, and the events surrounding a thermometer factory operated by Hindustan Unilever. The issue came into focus in 2001 following allegations related to the disposal of mercury-contaminated waste from the facility.

Over the years, the controversy developed into a prolonged campaign involving former factory workers, local residents, environmental activists and Greenpeace. The issue also attracted international attention, raising questions around worker safety, corporate accountability and environmental responsibility.

Based on Shahul’s investigative account, the film is being developed as a corporate-environmental thriller with an investigative narrative and a strong human element. The makers are looking to explore the events through the experiences of those affected by the controversy and the larger questions surrounding industrial practices and environmental impact.

According to those familiar with the project, the creative approach draws inspiration from films and series such as Erin Brockovich, Dark Waters and Chernobyl, while focusing on the specific events surrounding the Kodaikanal controversy.

For Almighty Motion Picture, Heavy Metal adds to its slate of projects inspired by real-world events, people and institutions. The production house recently backed the streaming series Made in India: A Titan Story.

The collaboration with Abundantia Entertainment brings together two production banners for a project that combines elements of a corporate thriller, investigative mystery and human drama.

The film is expected to go on floors shortly. Details about the director, cast and other members of the production team are expected to be announced in the coming days.

Amaal Mallik warns trolls amid ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’ credit controversy: “Music ka SRK hoon, magar gussa mera Salman Khan wala hai”

Amaal Mallik has responded strongly to social media users targeting his family amid the ongoing discussion surrounding his song ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’. The composer took to social media to address the criticism and made it clear that while he may respond to comments directed at him, he would not accept remarks aimed at his family.

On Wednesday, Amaal shared a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, drawing a distinction between criticism of his work and comments about his family. He wrote, “A statutory warning to the entire audience on each & every social platform of the world… Not a word about my family will be tolerated.”

Amaal was referring to the controversy surrounding ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’, the 2015 song sung by Salman Khan. Addressing the discussion around the song's credits, he explained the contributions of everyone involved in its making. Amaal wrote, “Firstly, know that Armaan Malik has sung the main version, because of which it could be presented to the actor-producer Mr Salman Khan and director Mr Nikhil Advani. I made it, @kumaarofficial sir wrote it, @ArmaanMalik22 sang it; hence it got approved and then @BeingSalmanKhan sir sang it. That’s how the cookie crumbles, and that’s exactly how it happened, okay? FYI, without Me & Kumaar sir, there would be no song to sing. Without Armaan, there would be nothing to play to Salman, sir. Without SK’s face & voice version, the song wouldn’t be where it is today; never denied that. But does anyone even pause to think how much goes into creating a song and then get left out of every celebration post every year.”

A statutory warning to the entire audience on each & every social platform of the world…

Not a word about my family will be tolerated.

Targeting me is part of your game plan, gives you some likes and eyeballs - GREAT!

You are welcome ;)

Last few days I have been seeing… pic.twitter.com/nEx3qvLr3e — Amaal Mallik (@AmaalMallik) September 16, 2026

The composer further warned that he would publicly address those who make comments about his family. He also spoke about standing by his father, Daboo Malik, and his family despite their estrangement.

“I will expose each one of you here if I find you saying anything against my family. Also, if anyone from the film industry, without probable cause or reason, stands up against me and mine, watch out, I’ll be coming for you… Music ka #Srk hoon main, Magar gussa mera #SalmanKhan Aur #SanjayDutt wala hai. Yeh sab doosro ko saath chalta hoga, Daboo Malik aur unki family ke saath Bilkul nahi… Amaal Mallik unke saath khada tha, hai aur rahega bhi. So, bhidna at your own risk. (This might happen with others, but definitely not with Daboo Malik and his family… Amaal Mallik stood with them, stands with them, and will continue to stand with them. So, clash at your own risk).”

The controversy began after Salman Khan Films shared a social media post marking 10 years of ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’ without initially mentioning Amaal Mallik as the composer. Amaal subsequently called out the omission, following which the post was edited to include his credit.

The incident also led to criticism of Amaal on social media, with some users calling him ‘ungrateful’ towards Salman Khan. Amaal and his singer-brother Armaan Malik subsequently defended his position publicly, resulting in further discussion online.

SHOCKING: Gurugram youth takes inspiration from Vikrant Massey’s Pritam And Pedro character to allegedly con student of Rs. 24.60 lakhs

The web series Pritam And Pedro, produced by Rajkumar Hirani and starring his son Vir Hirani alongside Arshad Warsi and Vikrant Massey, has been appreciated for its humour, writing, performances and, most importantly, its message about cybercrime. Ironically, a youth in Gurugram allegedly took inspiration from the series to commit a crime himself. His plan, however, was short-lived as the police tracked him down and arrested him.

As per an article in the Times of India, the accused, Alok K, posed as a student counsellor and met a 21-year-old person earlier this year, who was enrolled in a distance-learning programme for an MBA (finance) with a prestigious management institute. The student and the accused met at a cafe in Juhu, Mumbai and the latter helped the former complete his admission formalities. As a result, the student started to trust him.

A few months ago, the victim was appearing for an online exam when an alert appeared on his device screen that copying had been detected. According to the report in the Times of India, the student called the accused and clarified that he was not copying. The same alert popped up on the last day of the exam, and this time, the application crashed.

The article then states, “Alok called up the student and inquired whether he had been copying again. At this, the student once again denied any wrongdoing. The student grew nervous when Alok warned him that he would be debarred and blacklisted and would never be able to get admission in any other university in future. Alok offered to sort out the matter and started demanding money. He also promised to refund the money if he was unable to do the job.”

The student then transferred Rs. 24.60 lakhs in installments, out of which Alok refunded him only Rs. 1.15 lakh. Meanwhile, the student passed the exam and yet, the accused kept on demanding money. This is when the student realized that he had been conned. He told his parents about it and subsequently lodged a complaint at the Bangur Nagar police station earlier this month.

The cops surveilled Alok’s phone records and the money trail, which helped them track his location to Gurugram. He was arrested on September 11. The article revealed, “Police said Alok used to previously work at a call centre that had been contracted by the management institute to coordinate with all students regarding admissions and counselling. He got the victim’s phone number from the call centre’s database and targeted him. Police have seized two cellphones from him.”

Once arrested, the accused revealed to the cops that he was inspired by the antagonist, essayed by Vikrant Massey, in Pritam And Pedro and intended to use social engineering and impersonation to deceive the victim.

"Perfect at doing drama": Supreme Court raps Rajpal Yadav, grants final two weeks to deposit Rs 2 crore

The Supreme Court on September 15, 2026, granted actor Rajpal Yadav a final two-week window to submit a concrete proposal for clearing his outstanding financial dues in multiple cheque-bounce cases. A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant and comprising Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana extended the actor's exemption from surrendering until October 5, while directing him to deposit Rs 2 crore with the apex court registry.

The bench strongly criticized Yadav’s past non-compliance with judicial directions, observing that his conduct failed to inspire confidence. “He is perfect at doing drama but this court. Earlier orders of the court have not been complied with,” the bench remarked during proceedings, before deciding to grant him one last opportunity to prove his bona fides. Defense cites financial distress and industry support Appearing on behalf of the actor, senior advocate PS Patwalia urged the court to allow two weeks to present a detailed payment roadmap. He assured the bench that Yadav would deposit Rs 2 crore as a demonstration of good faith.

Patwalia informed the court that Yadav had already served four-and-a-half months in prison in connection with the matter, noting that the actor would need assistance from friends in the film industry to arrange the funds.

Representing the complainant, M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd, senior advocate Ajit Sinha emphasized that the firm was primarily focused on recovering the defaulted funds. He told the bench that Yadav had repeatedly failed to honor his financial commitments over the years.

The legal dispute traces back to financial assistance of Rs 5 crore allegedly extended to Yadav for a film project in 2010. According to the complainant, Yadav tendered seven cheques of Rs 1.05 crore each in 2013 as part of a settlement agreement, all of which subsequently bounced.

The complainant further stated that under a 2012 agreement, Yadav, his wife Radha Rajpal Yadav, and their company had agreed to repay approximately Rs 11 crore, inclusive of accumulated interest. The apex court is scheduled to hear the matter next on October 5.

EXCLUSIVE: Himesh Reshammiya reunites with Vikram Bhatt after 13 years for 1920: Cold Winter and with Sunny Deol after 19 years for Suryaa - One Man Against The System

Yesterday, we reported that Anya Singh of The Ba***ds Of Bollywood fame has joined the star cast of Vikram Bhatt’s 1920: Cold Winter. We now bring you another exciting update about the upcoming horror film.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Music composer Himesh Reshammiya has signed the film. Vikram Bhatt’s horror films are known not just for jump scares and scary visuals, but also for soulful music. 1920: Cold Winter is no exception. This time, he really wanted the music to stand out and hence, he approached Himesh. Himesh Reshammiya was too happy to join hands with Vikram after a long time and signed on the dotted line.”

1920: Cold Winter marks the fifth film of Vikram Bhatt and Himesh Reshammiya. They previously collaborated on Footpath (2003), Fear (2007), Red: The Dark Side (2007) and Dangerous Ishhq (2012).

Meanwhile, another source told us, “Vikram Bhatt has shot for many of his films in Ooty. But for 1920: Cold Winter, he’ll be filming in Mussoorie. Moreover, the shoot takes place in the winter season at the end of the year, which will be perfect as per the film’s requirement.”

Bollywood Hungama has also learned that the other film for which Himesh Reshammiya has composed is the Sunny Deol-starrer Soorya. As per sources, the film is now called Suryaa - One Man Against The System. It is produced by Kamal Mukut and co-stars Manish Wadhwa, Ravi Kishan and others. It is the remake of the Malayalam film Joseph (2018), and just like the original, the action entertainer is directed by M Padmakumar. In this film, Sunny Deol plays a retired cop who takes on the organ harvesting mafia.

This is the third time that Himesh Reshammiya has composed music for a Sunny Deol starrer. Their previous collaborations were Fool & Final (2007) and Apne (2007); both films released 19 years ago.

The source also revealed, “Himesh Reshammiya’s music label, Himesh Reshammiya Melodies, has bagged the music rights of both 1920: Cold Winter and Suryaa - One Man Against The System. The label will also release songs from other films for which Himesh is composing the music, including the Emraan Hashmi-starrer Gunmaaster G9, the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Yeh Prem Mol Liya and Anil Sharma’s Utkarsh Sharma-Arjun Rampal starrer Arjun Naga.”

About 1920: Cold Winter

1920: Cold Winter was announced a few weeks after the release and surprising box office performance of Haunted – Echoes Of The Past (2026). Like the Mimoh Chakraborty-starrer, 1920: Cold Winter is also produced by Anand Pandit. Ahan Shetty has been locked in as the male lead. Interestingly, both Ahan Shetty and Anya Singh also shared screen space in this year’s super-hit war film, Border 2. While Ahan played the role of Lt Cdr Mahendra Singh Rawat, Anya was seen as his wife, Sudha Rawat. Hence, 1920: Cold Winter marks the second film in which Ahan Shetty and Anya Singh will be paired opposite each other.

Sooraj Pancholi DENIES link to Disha Salian death case after CBI FIR names him alongside Aaditya Thackeray, Rhea Chakraborty: “Very unfair and extremely upsetting”

Actor Sooraj Pancholi has addressed the renewed attention around his name following the Central Bureau of Investigation’s FIR in the death case of celebrity manager Disha Salian. The actor has denied ever meeting Salian or Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and said he is willing to cooperate with the investigation if required.

The CBI registered an FIR on September 14 in connection with Salian’s June 2020 death after the Bombay High Court directed the agency to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case. The development has once again brought several names associated with allegations and speculation around the case into focus. However, the High Court had directed the CBI to conduct the probe without naming anyone as an accused at that stage.

According to reports citing advocate Nilesh Ojha, who represents Salian’s father Satish Salian, the FIR contains the names of several individuals, including Sooraj Pancholi, Aaditya Thackeray, Rhea Chakraborty and Dino Morea. The reported inclusion of a name in an FIR does not by itself establish guilt or wrongdoing, and the investigation is ongoing. Sooraj Pancholi says he has never met Disha Salian Amid the renewed discussion, Pancholi took to social media late on September 14 to put out a detailed statement about his alleged connection to the case. He said his name has been repeatedly linked to the matter through media reports and statements despite, according to him, there being no connection between him and Salian.

“I have decided to put this out because I feel it is important to put certain facts clearly in the public domain. For the last few years, my name has been dragged into the controversy surrounding the unfortunate demise of late Disha Salian through various media reports and statements. I want to say this out loud and very clear. I have never met late Disha Salian in my life, directly or indirectly. I have also never met Aaditya Thackeray in my life!” he wrote.

Pancholi said he found it unfair that his name continued to be associated with the case and claimed there was no evidence connecting him to the matter. “It is honestly very unfair and extremely upsetting to see my name being dragged into something that I have absolutely nothing to do with, especially when there is no evidence or proof connecting me to this matter,” he added. Actor says he is willing to cooperate with CBI Pancholi also addressed his previous interactions with investigating agencies. According to the actor, he was questioned by the CBI and police several years ago and his statement was recorded during the earlier investigation. “Regarding this matter, I have already been investigated by the CBI/police and my statement was recorded by the agencies almost 4-5 years ago. I have nothing to hide,” he said.

The actor further stated that he would cooperate if the investigating agency requires additional information from him. “If any investigating agency feels that they need to question me again or require any further information from me, I am completely willing to cooperate and make myself available for any investigation,” Pancholi wrote.

The CBI’s latest probe follows the Bombay High Court’s September 2 order directing the agency to investigate Salian’s death. The court had said the investigation should cover all aspects surrounding the circumstances in which she lost her life. Sooraj Pancholi urges people not to treat speculation as fact Pancholi also spoke about the role of media reports and social media discussions in shaping public opinion around the case. He urged people to distinguish between allegations, statements and established facts.

“I strongly support a fair and thorough CBI investigation into the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate demise of late Disha Salian,” he wrote. “At the same time, I also believe that there should be an investigation into the malicious propaganda and false narratives being created around this unfortunate incident because someone’s death should never become a reason to destroy another person’s reputation without evidence.”

He further appealed to people to verify information before forming opinions. “And to everyone who is reading this, please don’t believe everything you see on the News or on social media! A headline is not evidence. A debate is not evidence. Someone saying something on television does not make it a fact. Please verify things before forming an opinion about someone’s life and character,” Pancholi said.

  A post shared by Sooraj P (@soorajpancholi)

The actor concluded his statement by reiterating that he has faith in the legal process and the investigating agencies. “I have faith in the law. I have faith in the investigating agencies. And I have faith that ultimately, the truth will come out. Let the fact speak. Let the investigation speak. Let the truth speak. Jai Hind.”

The actor captioned his post, “Please read because I’m sure the media won’t cover this!”

EXCLUSIVE: Anya Singh bags Vikram Bhatt’s 1920: Cold Winter; reunites with Ahan Shetty after Border 2

A couple of weeks after the release and surprising box office performance of Haunted – Echoes Of The Past, director Vikram Bhatt and producer Anand Pandit announced that they would join hands for 1920: Cold Winter. A month later, in July 2026, it was reported that Ahan Shetty has signed the horror flick. And now, Bollywood Hungama has come across an interesting information about the film.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Anya Singh, who became widely known after The Ba***ds Of Bollywood, has come on board as the female lead of the film. The makers were impressed by Anya’s screen presence and talent, and felt that she would be apt for the part. Anya is also excited as she has never attempted horror before in Bollywood.”

As per reports, 1920: Cold Winter will go on floors in November this year. It will be the sixth film in the 1920 franchise. The series began with 1920 in 2008. It was directed by Vikram Bhatt and launched Adah Sharma and Rajniesh Duggal. While 1920 was average, the next film, 1920: Evil Returns (2012), was a semi-hit. It starred Aftab Shivdasani and Tia Bajpai and was directed by Bhushan Patel. 1920 London (2016), meanwhile, was directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and featured Sharman Joshi and Meera Chopra. Vikram Bhatt was involved with the second and third parts as writer and producer.

1921 (2018) was produced, written and directed by Vikram and it featured Zareen Khan and Karan Kundrra. While 1920 London flopped at the box office, 1921 was an average grosser.

1920: Horrors Of The Heart (2023) was also directed by Vikram Bhatt and it was his first association with producer Anand Pandit. Starring Avika Gor and Danish Pandor, the horror flick performed decently at the box office.

Sayani Gupta’s Aasmani cleared of copyright infringement allegations by SWA

Sayani Gupta’s directorial debut Aasmani has been cleared of copyright infringement allegations by the Screenwriters Association’s (SWA) Dispute Settlement Committee (DSC). The complaint had been filed against Gupta and editor Paramita Ghosh, alleging similarities between the short film Aasmani and Prabha, an unfinished documentary.

After examining the submissions from both sides and carrying out independent expert comparisons, the DSC observed that the two works shared only an underlying idea. According to the committee, the storytelling, character development, conflict and overall story arc were different in the two works.

The DSC further noted that copyright law protects the expression of an idea rather than the idea itself. It also took into account that the complainant’s work is a documentary based on the publicly known life of a real person.

The committee also referred to a separate defamation suit filed by Gupta against the complainant. The court has reportedly passed an order favourable to Gupta in that matter. Since certain issues involved in the defamation proceedings overlap with those raised in the DSC complaint, the matter is now sub judice, which prevents the DSC from proceeding with further adjudication.

Accordingly, the SWA proceedings have been concluded and the complaint has been closed at its end, without prejudice to the legal rights and remedies available to either party.

The development comes as Aasmani continues its international festival journey. The copyright complaint had emerged during the film’s festival run, and the closure of the proceedings brings the dispute before the SWA to an end.

Reacting to the development, Gupta said, “As I had said earlier, truth will always prevail. I had respected the process and grateful that the truth has come out. It always does. This has been the most harrowing experience of my life. But as my grandmother would often quote Tagore and say 'tomar potaka jaare dao, bohibare dao shokoti'.. ‘whoever you give your flag to bear, you also give them the strength to bear it.’”

IMPPA issues clarification over ‘incorrect’ interpretation of Bombay High Court order

The Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) has issued a clarification regarding what it described as incorrect interpretations of a recent order passed by the Bombay High Court in connection with a dispute between Saffron Magicworks Private Limited (owned by Nikhil Dwivedi) and Andolan Films Private Limited (owned by Vikramaditya Motwane). IMPPA has also been impleaded in the proceedings.

According to the association, certain communications and news reports currently in circulation have presented an inaccurate understanding of the scope and effect of the High Court’s order. IMPPA stated that its involvement in the matter was limited to carrying out its institutional responsibilities under its Memorandum and Articles of Association.

The association explained that the dispute between Saffron Magicworks Private Limited and Andolan Films Private Limited had been placed before IMPPA’s Dispute Resolution Committee. Any determination or direction issued by the committee, it clarified, was related to the parties involved in the dispute and the specific issues that had been brought before it.

IMPPA further stressed that it has no independent commercial claim or interest in the underlying dispute between the two companies. The association also urged that the High Court’s order should be understood strictly on the basis of its express terms.

Addressing reports suggesting restrictions on its functioning, IMPPA clarified, “No blanket restraining order has been passed against IMPPA restraining the discharge of its institutional functions.” The association said that some reports presently being circulated do not accurately reflect the order’s scope or its implications for IMPPA.

IMPPA also stated that it does not accept any characterization of the court order that goes beyond what has been expressly stated by the High Court. The association maintained that it will continue to carry out its responsibilities in accordance with applicable law, its governing framework and the directions issued by the court.

The clarification comes amid reports and communications surrounding the legal dispute involving Saffron Magicworks and Andolan Films. Through its statement, IMPPA has sought to distinguish its institutional role from the commercial dispute between the two parties and clarify the extent of the court’s directions concerning the association.

EXCLUSIVE: Legendary cinematographer Ashok Mehta’s life and legacy to be chronicled in Amit Ashar’s coffee table book

Ace still photographer Amit Ashar is working on a book on the life and legacy of legendary cinematographer Ashok Mehta, Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learned. The coffee table book traces Mehta’s filmmaking journey and his phenomenal career through a remarkable collection of photographs captured by Ashar over the span of more than three decades.

Set to release in late 2026, the book features exclusive, unseen photographs, complemented by personal write-ups from some of Indian cinema's most respected filmmakers and celebrities Mehta has closely worked with. Together, the visuals and words aim to celebrate Mehta’s enduring influence on Indian cinematography and the legacy he has left along.

Mehta started off as a runway hooker and ended up as a National Award-winning cinematographer. He was one of the highest-paid technicians of his generation and worked with both art-house and mainstream commercial filmmakers, leaving a distinct visual signature on every project he touched. His most-acclaimed work credit includes Aparna Sen’s 36 Chowringhee Lane (1981), Shyam Benegal’s Mandi (1983), Gulzar’s Ijaazat (1987), Girish Karnad’s Utsav (1984), Subhash Ghai’s Ram Lakhan (1989), and Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen (1994), among others.

Amit Ashar has been developing this book for a year now. He considers it a deeply personal tribute, as Mehta has been his mentor, leading light, and close friend. Over a span of 30 years, he captured rare, intimate, and behind-the-scenes photographs of the cinematographer working on various film sets. His forthcoming book is being defined as an extensive archive that brings together both iconic and lesser-seen moments from his journey.

BREAKING: Daayra marks Kareena Kapoor Khan’s TENTH film to receive ‘A’ rating from CBFC; Kunal Kemmu’s Vibe also gets adult certificate

It’s the year of adult films, it seems. After Dhurandhar The Revenge, Mirzapur, Cocktail 2, Batwara 1947, O'Romeo, Assi, Bandar etc. the two big Hindi releases next week have also received an ‘A’ rating from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Daayra, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, was passed today, that is, September 11, by the CBFC, with an ‘A’ rating. The length of the film, as per the censor certificate, is 143,16 minutes. In other words, Daayra is 2 hours, 23 minutes and 16 seconds long. The investigative thriller is directed by Meghna Gulzar.

Daayra marks Kareena Kapoor Khan's tenth film that will be for adults only. The other 9 films were Ajnabee (2001), Chameli (2003), Dev (2004), Omkara (2006), Kurbaan (2009), Heroine (2012), Udta Punjab (2016), Veere Di Wedding (2018) and The Buckingham Murders (2024).

Meanwhile, Vibe was also passed by the CBFC today. The comic caper also received an ‘adults only’ rating from the Censor Board. According to the CBFC website, Vibe's length is 145.55 minutes, or 2 hours, 25 minutes and 55 seconds.

Vibe stars Kunal Kemmu, who is also the film’s director. Besides Kunal, the film stars Preity G Zinta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Vanshika Dhir, Dinesh Lal Yadav aka Nirahua and Yashpal Sharma. Vibe is the second film of Preity G Zinta after her comeback. Her previous film, Batwara 1947, was released last month and also received an ‘A’ rating.

An industry insider commented, “Daayra’s ‘A’ rating is understandable as the film deals with a theme that is suitable for adult and mature audiences. However, Vibe looks like a fun entertainer that can be enjoyed by adults as well as kids and teens. It seems to be in the zone of Kunal Kemmu’s previous directorial, Madgaon Express (2024), which had received a U/A rating. Hence, its adult certification will come as a surprise for many.”

Both Daayra and Vibe will release in cinemas on September 18.

Ameesha Patel’s parents’ Mumbai home robbed, jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh reportedly stolen

Ameesha Patel’s parents’ residence in Mumbai’s Churchgate area was allegedly targeted in a jewellery theft, with valuables worth around Rs 5 lakh reported missing. Mumbai Police have arrested a 40-year-old domestic worker in connection with the case following a complaint filed by the actress’s mother, Asha Patel.

According to IANS, the accused has been identified as 40-year-old Seema Ghate, a resident of Palghar. Ghate had reportedly been working as a domestic helper at the residence of Ameesha’s mother, Asha Patel, for around one and a half years.

The alleged theft came to light after Asha Patel approached the Marine Drive police and filed a complaint. According to the police, a bangle was allegedly stolen from the residence in January 2026. Asha reportedly suspected Ghate of being involved in the incident and had allegedly been asking her for around five to six months to admit to the crime and return the jewellery.

However, the bangle was allegedly not returned, following which Asha Patel decided to approach the police. The Marine Drive police initially registered a case against an unidentified woman under Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

As part of the investigation, a crime detection team worked on the case and traced the accused to Virar. Ghate was subsequently detained and arrested by the police. She was produced before a court and has been remanded to police custody until September 15.

The investigation into the alleged theft is currently underway. Police are attempting to recover the missing jewellery, while the bangle reportedly remains unrecovered. Authorities are also checking whether Ghate has any previous criminal record.

Meanwhile, Ameesha Patel has been associated with Bollywood for more than two decades. She made her acting debut in 2000 with Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, which went on to become a commercial success. She later appeared in films including Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Humraaz, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Race 2.

In 2023, Ameesha reprised her role in Gadar 2, which became her highest-grossing release. She was last seen in Tauba Tera Jalwa, directed by Akashaditya Lama, which released in 2024.

Triptii Dimri joins Peep Beauty as investor and co-creator

Triptii Dimri has joined D2C eye-focused beauty brand Peep Beauty as an investor and co-creator. The startup is looking to build a beauty category centred on coloured contact lenses and eye makeup.

According to a statement shared by the company, Dimri has been associated with Peep Beauty from its early stages. As part of her role, she has contributed to the brand’s creative direction, product discussions and storytelling. Her involvement extends beyond her investment, with the actor also participating in conversations around the brand’s overall vision and positioning.

Dimri’s investment comes as part of Peep Beauty’s pre-seed funding round of Rs. 12 crores ($1.2 million). The round was led by Sadev Ventures, with participation from iSeed, ISV and TDV.

The partnership is also built around the idea of creating a beauty brand that places greater focus on the Indian eye. Peep Beauty aims to position coloured contact lenses as part of the broader beauty and self-expression space rather than limiting them to a functional or medical category.

Talking about her association with the brand, Triptii Dimri, Investor & Co-Creator, Peep Beauty, said, “The first thing that struck me about Peep Beauty was that it wasn’t just creating a product; it was creating an entirely new way of thinking about beauty. The eye is one of the most expressive parts of who we are, yet coloured lenses have always been spoken about as a functional or medical category. Peep Beauty changes that conversation. Being part of building a brand from the ground up, contributing creatively, and helping shape its vision made this partnership incredibly exciting for me.”

With Dimri coming on board as an investor and co-creator, Peep Beauty is set to develop its presence in the eye-focused beauty segment while working on products and storytelling aimed at Indian consumers.

Bipasha Basu seeks Tukaram Mundhe’s help after she finds worms in protein powder: “You are our only hope”

Actor Bipasha Basu has raised concerns about an alleged contamination issue involving a jar of Isopure protein powder. On Thursday, the actor took to Instagram Stories to share a video in which she claimed to have found tiny worms inside a freshly opened jar of the product.

In the video, Bipasha showed what appeared to be a small worm on her finger and claimed that there were several others inside the container. “This Isopure is full of small worms. Tiny, tiny worms. The new dabba that we’ve opened,” she said while showing the contents. “These are the worms inside it, full of it,” Bipasha further alleged.

The actor also tagged Tukaram Mundhe, Commissioner of Maharashtra's Food and Drug Administration (FDA), seeking his intervention over the alleged issue. In her Instagram Story, she wrote, “@tukaram ias You are our only hope .. So we don't get spoilt or adulterated stuff in everything we purchase.”

Bipasha's post comes amid increased attention around food safety and hygiene concerns involving products and establishments in Maharashtra. However, the actor's allegation regarding the protein powder has not been independently verified.

The incident also comes shortly after Bipasha made headlines for her digital cover appearance for Elle, where she spoke about her work, motherhood and making bold choices despite being advised against them. Her latest Instagram post, however, focused on a consumer concern rather than her professional projects. Tukaram Mundhe's Food Safety Crackdown Bipasha's decision to tag Tukaram Mundhe comes against the backdrop of the FDA official's reputation for strict enforcement of food safety and hygiene standards in Maharashtra. Mundhe has recently been associated with inspections and action concerning food safety and hygiene across restaurants and cafes in the state. His no-nonsense approach has also led to him being described as a "real-life Singham" on social media.

Recently, Salman Khan also made a playful reference to the FDA commissioner while sharing a video from a friend's newly opened Bandra cafe, The Tuck Shop at Savio's. Sharing the video, Salman wrote, “Refill my coffee ya please. Price mat badhana, quality maintain karna. Hygiene maintained, or I will send HIM and it's done, sis.”

While Salman did not explicitly name Mundhe, his reference to sending “HIM” was widely understood as a nod to the commissioner and his reputation for strict action over food safety and hygiene.

Bipasha's latest post now puts the spotlight on an alleged contamination issue involving a packaged protein product. Any official response or action from the Maharashtra FDA regarding her complaint remains awaited.

BREAKING: Avengers Endgame: Encore advance booking opens; PVR Sangam Chakala among India’s first Infinity Vision screens

Two weeks are left for the release of Avengers Endgame: Encore and the excitement is high despite it being a re-release. One reason is the recent blockbuster success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which has once again boosted interest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Moreover, Avengers Endgame: Encore will include new material along with an exclusive look at the next Marvel film, Avengers: Doomsday. Earlier this year, Disney launched Infinity Vision, a new certification for Premium Large Format (PLF) cinemas. The certification is given to auditoriums that meet certain standards related to screen size, projection quality, brightness and sound. Avengers Endgame: Encore will be one of the first films to play on Infinity Vision-certified screens, ahead of Avengers: Doomsday in December.

Earlier today, September 11, the advance booking of Avengers Endgame: Encore commenced in India and with it, the first set of Infinity Vision-certified screens in the country has also emerged. PVR C&B Square, also known as PVR Sangam, located in Chakala, Andheri East, Mumbai, is one of the cinemas to have received the Infinity Vision certification. The superhero flick will have two shows there, at 7:15 pm and 11:00 pm.

In Delhi, PVR Promenade, Vasant Kunj, will have shows at the same timings. Meanwhile, Cinepolis Lake Mall, Kolkata, will have three shows of Avengers Endgame: Encore – at 9:00 am, 4:20 pm and 11:50 pm. These cinemas are also Infinity Vision-certified. As per trade sources, more cinemas are expected to come under the certification not just in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata but also in cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Pune, Chennai, Coimbatore and others.

The occupancy in IMAX and Infinity Vision screens is expected to be healthy. This is because while the regular screens will include new footage and a unique opening, they will not feature the new post-credits scene directly linked to Avengers: Doomsday. That scene will be exclusive to IMAX and Infinity Vision-certified screens.

The prices are also kept a bit higher as Avengers Endgame: Encore is expected to perform well at the box office.
