Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah shares screenshots of receiving rape threats after posting a photo in lingerie

Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah Kashyap has taken to her Instagram account to speak on sexual assault and the rape threats she has been receiving on the photo-sharing app after she posted a picture in lingerie!

Speaking of receiving vile threats like she deserves to be assaulted and gangrape threats, she said the “past few weeks have been really hard on my mental health.” In her note, she added, “Ever since I posted a photo of me in lingerie, I have been getting the most vile, degrading and disgusting comments, I have never felt more frightened than I have in the past few weeks to the point where I considered deleting my Instagram. I have tried to ignore the harassment and shrug it off but the truth is that we need to speak about it because these kinds of comments contribute to the rape culture that affects all women in India (and the rest of the world) in one way or the other.”

“We seem to be a country that will hold candle marches for a woman after she’s been sexually assaulted but won’t protect a woman while she’s alive. And the truth is that women in India grow up being sexualized their whole lives,” she further said.

Aaliyah then alleged that she was “sexually assaulted as a minor by a middle-aged man.” She said, “I have grown up with these kinds of comments to the point where it culminated into me being sexually assaulted as a minor by a middle aged man. The double standard is that many of the people who have harassed me, along with many other women, are hypocrites. They love to pretend that they’re on a moral high ground buy in reality, they are the ones promoting rape culture that exists.”

Aaliyah had uploaded a video on her Youtube channel recently and spoke about online harassment and bullying. “The amount of backlash I got for it like people telling me I should be ashamed of being Indian and posting stuff like that. People were sending me rape threats. People were calling me a prostitute. People were DMing me and asking me what my rate was. People were sending me death threats,” she had said.

SCOOP: Shahid Kapoor to play the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji in a period drama?

Chhatrapati Shivaji evokes a different sentiment among Indians and Marathas, at large. For the longest time, people have been making efforts in putting together a project on the brave warrior, but none of it has gone on floors yet. Riteish Deshmukh has decided to bankroll a multi-lingual pan-India film on Shivaji that will star him in the lead. There were talks that Ali Abbas Zafar too is planning to mount a film with Salman Khan as Shivaji.

 Now, we can inform you that Kabir Singh producer Ashwin Varde has also decided to jump on the bandwagon. A source shares, "Ashwin Varde has joined hands with Lyca Productions who are soon going to make their foray in Bollywood in a big way. They are discussing multiple co-production ventures with producers and one of them is a mammoth period saga based on the life and triumphs of Chhatrapati Shivaji."

They have also offered the film to a star, already. "Ashwin has approached Shahid Kapoor to star in the film. Shahid has loved the idea and if he says yes, this will be his second period saga after Padmaavat but unlike the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, he will play the titular role in this one. Shahid and Ashwin have worked together on Kabir Singh previously and they are now locking modalities before they sign the contract."

Tandav Controversy: Bail plea of Aparna Purohit rejected; Allahabad HC says applicant has acted irresponsibly

The Allahabad Court on Thursday rejected the anticipatory bail application filed by Aparna Purohit, head of the India Original, Amazon Prime Video on connection with an FIR that alleged that the makers of the web series Tandav streaming on Amazon Prime Video hurt the religious sentiments of a particular community.

The anticipatory bail plea by Purohit was filed in connection with a case lodged in Greater Noida against her and six others under IPC provisions relating to promoting enmity between different groups and intending to outrage religious feelings among others.

On Thursday, while rejecting the application of Purohit, Justice Siddharth said, "On the one hand, the sentiments of majority community have been hurt by display of the characters of their faith in a disrespectful manner and on the other hand, an attempt has been made to widen the gap between the higher castes and the scheduled castes when the object of the state is to bridge the gap between the different castes and communities and make the country a united force socially, communally and politically.”

Referring to the scene in the series which caused a furore, the court observed, "The scenes in dispute are likely to cause disturbance and threats to public order. The reference to Hindu Gods and Goddesses in the scenes in dispute in berating light cannot be justified.”

It said that the disclaimer about the show being fictional “cannot be considered to be a ground for absolving the applicant of permitting the streaming of an objectionable movie online”.

On the title of the show, the court said, “The use of the word ‘Tandav’ as the name of the movie can be offensive to the majority of the people of this country since this word is associated with a particular act assigned to Lord Shiva who is considered to be creator, conservator and destroyer of the mankind all together.”

“The reference to Hindu Gods and Goddesses in the scenes in dispute in berating light cannot be justified. The advice of Sage Narad to Lord Shiva to make some inflammatory tweet on the Twitter like all the students of the campus becoming traitors and raising slogans of freedom clearly alludes to the incidents which took place in Jawaharlal Nehru University and therefore, it can be considered to be a message of hate advanced through the movie,” it said.

The court also took notice of films in the past “which have used the name of Hindu Gods and Goddesses and shown them in disrespectful manner”. It listed films such as Ram Teri Ganga Maili, Satyam Shivam Sundram, P.K. and Oh My God and also said that“efforts have been made to subvert the image of historical and mythological personalities (Padmavati)”.

“Western filmmakers have refrained from ridiculing Lord Jesus or the Prophet but Hindi filmmakers have done this repeatedly and still doing this most unabashedly with the Hindu Gods and Goddesses,” the court further observed.

Rejecting Purohit bail plea, the court reasoned, "The fact remains that the applicant had not been vigilant and has acted irresponsibly making her open to criminal prosecution in permitting screening of a movie which is against the fundamental rights of the majority of citizens of this country and therefore, her fundamental right of life and liberty cannot be protected by grant of anticipatory bail to her in the exercise of discretionary powers of this court.”

The court also said Purohit was granted interim protection from arrest on February 11 by the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court, “but she was not cooperating with the investigation”.

“This conduct of the applicant shows that she has scant respect for the law of the land and her conduct further disentitles her to any relief from this court, since co-operation with investigation is a necessary condition for grant of anticipatory bail,” it said.

Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Emraan Hashmi attend puja at YRF before Tiger 3 starts shooting

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Tiger 3 is all set to roll from March 8 in Mumbai and the lead actors of the film attended the customary puja at YRF that happens before every film goes on the floor. Director Maneesh Sharma, who is helming this massive franchise now, also attended the puja and so did Emraan Hashmi who is playing the villain in this film.

An eyewitness reveals, “Salman had come to YRF to shoot for Pathan with Shah Rukh Khan yesterday. As we all know YRF is creating the biggest spy franchise in the history of Indian cinema, and SRK and Salman will appear in each other’s films. Since Salman was coming to the studio, the team planned the puja on the same day and also invited Katrina for the same. Maneesh and Emraan Hashmi too was a part of this puja.”

The source adds, “On its 50th year, YRF is rolling out the biggest films being made in Bollywood or the Indian film industry today. Tiger 3 is being mounted on a scale that has not been seen before and so is Pathan. It is going to be an incredible visual and entertaining extravaganza for audiences when these films release in theatres. The energy was palpable during the puja. All the cast members were thrilled to be taking the story forward of the Tiger franchise. They spent a good one hour with each other before Salman went to shoot for Pathan.”

The makers of Pathan recreate African arms market in the film city for the Shah Rukh Khan starrer

Pathan will mark Shah Rukh Khan’s grand comeback and the film has already gotten everyone’s attention. Being one of the most looked-forward-to projects of Shah Rukh Khan, the fans are elated to have finally found out about the project. With Deepika Padukone and John Abraham accompanying him as the female lead and antagonist, there are reports of Salman Khan shooting with Shah Rukh Khan for his cameo in the film as well.

In a recent report, it has been revealed that the Shah Rukh Khan starrer’s makers have recreated the African arms market in Mumbai’s Film City. In this Siddharth Anand directorial, Shah Rukh Khan will be seen playing the role of a RAW agent and in that particular scene, he will go undercover for his mission. However, his visit to the African arms market will result in a fight among the cartels, and was shot in the early hours of the morning.

Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan were apparently spotted shooting at YRF Studios yesterday, which will eventually become a high-octane scene of the film. Salman Khan starts shooting with Shah Rukh Khan for Pathan with strict Covid restrictions; no visitors on the sets

Salman Khan makes a guest appearance in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathan. However if the truth be told, Salman wouldn’t like to shoot at all until the pandemic is over.

“Salman is totally against shooting now when the Covid danger is all around us. But then he is a man of his words and he loves his family. And Shah Rukh, all said and done, is family for Salman,” says a close friend of Salman, a producer who has been categorically told that his project with Salman would have to wait until the pandemic danger subsides.

Earlier to Pathan, Salman shot for his brother-in-law Aayush Sharma’s film Antim, again because of his commitment to the family.

“When it comes to his own films, he won’t shoot until it’s safe to do so,” says the source, adding that the Covid rules are being very strictly applied on the sets of Pathan. And that includes no visitors.
