Kim Seon Ho to continue filming for big-screen debut Sad Tropics as new chats made public surrounding his ex-girlfriend

South Korean actor Kim Seon Ho’s casting in the film Sad Tropics will remain unchanged. Amid the controversy surrounding him and his ex-girlfriend, the makers of the film won’t be replacing Kim Seon Ho as the lead actor.

Kim Seon Ho to continue filming for big-screen debut Sad Tropics as new chats made public surrounding his ex-girlfriend

According to Korean tabloid Soompi, the production company NEW shared, “After much deliberation, the producers of Sad Tropics have decided to film the movie this year with actor Kim Seon Ho.”

Sad Tropics is a story about a man who has a Korean father and a Filipino mother. He dreams of becoming a boxer and comes to Korea to find his father who abandoned him. The film will be directed by producing director (PD) Park Hoon Jung, who produced hit films like New World, V.I.P, and The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion. Go Ara is in talks to also star in the film.

According to Star News tabloid, while the film was originally scheduled to go into filming in mid-November, they now plan to begin shooting in December. This confirms that Kim Seon Ho will be making his big screen debut through Sad Tropics.

Last month, Kim Seon Ho was involved in a controversy after his ex-girlfriend uploaded an anonymous post alleging that her unnamed actor ‘K’, her ex-boyfriend had manipulated her into getting an abortion under false pretenses. Kim Seon Ho admitted that he was the actor mentioned in the post and released an official apology. Following the controversy, Kim Seon Ho was removed from two films he had been confirmed to star in director Kim Deok Min’s omnibus film Dog Days and director Lee Sang Geun’s romantic comedy film 2 O’Clock Date.

Since then, Dispatch released two articles sharing a closer look at the events that actually took place between Kim Seon Ho and his ex-girlfriend. In the second report released on November 1, Dispatch reveals more KakaoTalk messages shared between Kim Seon Ho and Choi Young Ah at the time that she found out she was pregnant. The tabloid revealed 22 pages of their conversation that Choi Young Ah took screenshots of and sent to her acquaintances. The conversations were revealed to Dispatch by those acquaintances.

Choi Young Ah’s acquaintance explained that they both didn’t expect the pregnancy. She herself had given up on it, saying, “It’s hard for me to get pregnant.: That’s why she told Kim Seon Ho, “She really thought she wouldn’t get pregnant”  Kim Seon Ho was reportedly upset about the sudden pregnancy, excited about the baby, but worried about his girlfriend, all at the same time.

In Choi Young Ah’s online community post from October 2021, she wrote that he had told her he felt like she was “his” and “like his family” when she was six to seven weeks pregnant. But Kim Seon Ho had called her “his person” and “his family” since July 2020.

In her online community post, Choi Young Ah had written, “He said that if he has a child now, he’ll have to pay 900 million won (approximately $764,850) in damages and that he didn’t have 900 million won at the moment. He coerced me into getting an abortion by asking what I’d do if he can’t act anymore because of the child and if that forces even his parents to lose their home.”

The “damages” part was briefly mentioned in their conversation, but Kim Seon Ho soon took his words back. Kim Seon Ho also shared his sincerity about acting. In mid-August, Choi Young Ah asked her acquaintances to monitor Kim Seon Ho on variety show, 2 Days & 1 Night.

An acquaintance of Choi Young Ah said, “Seon Ho said he couldn’t watch 2 Days & 1 Night at the time because he felt guilty about smiling and laughing.” Choi Young Ah had written in her community post that Kim Seon Ho had “suddenly changed after the abortion but they continued to maintain a sweet relationship as seen from the chats.

One day, Kim Seon Ho discovered hundreds of video and audio recordings that she took secretly. Choi Young Ah said, “It’s for fun,” and, “It’s for the lawsuit.” In April 2021, they temporarily separated to take some time away from each other. In May, Kim Seon Ho broke up with Choi Young Ah.

According to an acquaintance, Choi Young Ah was unable to accept the breakup and went to the temple, church, got tarot readings, and more. “She said she would wait until the end of early morning worship. She said if he doesn’t return, she wouldn’t let it go…She said she can’t forgive seeing him active. She said she would rather destroy him. But meanwhile she kept on seeing those guys around her.”

Lionsgate Play to roll out India’s first Original, a premium bold family show starring Lara Dutta and Prateik Babbar!

In a world where OTT content is booming, it looks like the big players have a new competition to look at. The global streaming platform, Lionsgate Play, a direct-to-consumer OTT app launched in India last year, is all set to offer a slew of Indian original series. What’s interesting to note is that the platform itself has a unique approach to content. With its first series and the lineup of the next few ready, the platform is capitalizing on the young adult space.

With OTT specials becoming synonymous with crime and action, Lionsgate India is carefully sifting through scripts to choose ideas and concepts that are refreshing and a welcome break from the clutter available on platforms. With a slice of life show about family, another about college life and one about matters of the heart, the platform is offering to the audience exactly what is missing from the landscape - some breather.

There’s a demand for lighter, more intimate content in the post-pandemic world where heightened anxiety is a persistent problem with people. The shows they have chosen in their maiden slate are nuanced stories about human relationships but the treatment of each of them is light-handed and simple. The suits at the platform are confident that the stories will strike a chord for being charming and relatable. The first big project, directed by Kunal Kohli, is headlined by Lara Dutta and Prateik Babbar that follows the story of a dysfunctional family.

Alec Baldwin speaks on camera for first time after the Rust shooting tragedy, says 'Halyna Hutchins was my friend'

American actor Alec Baldwin has spoken up about the Rust shooting tragedy. It marked the first time he’s commented on camera about the incident.

Alec Baldwin speaks on camera for first time after the Rust shooting tragedy, says 'Halyna Hutchins was my friend'

According to the Deadline, while driving past some photographers in Vermont, Baldwin and wife Hilaria interacted with them. In the course of the four-minute conversation with the group, Baldwin claimed Hutchins “was my friend” and said he had dinner with her and the director on the first day of filming.

He said, “A woman died. She was my friend. The day I arrived in Santa Fe to start shooting, I took her to dinner with Joel, the director. We were a very, very well-oiled crew shooting a film together and then this horrible event happened.” Baldwin told photographers he had been told by the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office “not to talk about the investigation.”

He said he was “eagerly awaiting for the sheriff’s department’ to release their findings,” and said he “talks to the cops every day.”

Hilaria Baldwin interjected when a photographer stuttered Hutchins’ name, rebuking them that “You should know her name. Halyna, her name is Halyna. If you’re spending this much time waiting for us…”

Both of them then said, “You should know her name.” Baldwin said he “wouldn’t know how to characterize” his meeting with Matthew Hutchins, Halyna’s husband, and her eight-year-old son, Andros.

Several times, Alec Baldwin was interrupted by Hilaria, who reminded him, “You know what, no details.” But at one point, Alec Baldwin took control, telling her, “Do me a favor. I’m going to answer the questions.” He then said that Matthew Hutchins was “overwhelmed with grief.”

Baldwin also called the on-set shooting “one in a trillion,” and called for “new measures” to enforce set safety. “How many bullets have been fired in films and TV shows in the last 75 years?” he said. “This is America. Probably billions. And nearly all of them without incident. It’s urgent for you to understand that I am not an expert in this field,” he said. It’s “whatever other people” decide.

The couple then asked photographers to stop following them after they talked “out of courtesy,” and asked for cameras to be turned off.

On October 21, 2021, at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Bonanza City, New Mexico, U.S., cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was fatally shot and director Joel Souza was wounded on the set of the film Rust after actor Alec Baldwin discharged a gun used as a prop, which had been handed to him by assistant director Dave Halls.
