Ayushmann Khurrana signs global recording deal with Warner Music India

Bollywood actor-singer Ayushmann Khurrana, known both for his blockbuster movies and chartbusting songs, has signed a global recording deal with the popular music label Warner Music India, in the next chapter of his artist career. Signing with Warner Music India will enable Khurrana to access the label's global ecosystem, helping him connect with audiences and artists beyond India’s borders. The first release from this partnership is expected to drop next month.

Expressing his excitement about the partnership, Ayushmann Khurrana stated, “I have always wanted to collaborate with like-minded people in my pursuit of creative excellence.  I want to take my music to a global audience and I’m confident that with Warner Music India by my side, I will make some significant strides in this realm.  I cannot wait to unveil my next song to people.  It will be a new sound that people haven’t heard from me before which is extremely exciting personally for me.”

EXCLUSIVE: Boney Kapoor says Mr India 2 is at pre-mature level: “I was approached by a foreign studio…”

Actor Anil Kapoor's portrayal of the invisible superhero in Mr. India has etched itself into the iconic characters of Indian cinema history. The film stands tall as one of the actor's most successful ventures, cherished by fans even decades after its release. Produced by Boney Kapoor, the movie became synonymous with blockbuster success. Its popularity has sparked fervent anticipation for a sequel, for decades. Rumours have swirled for some time regarding potential sequels to the beloved classic. However, Boney Kapoor says that the idea of Mr. India 2 will happen but it is at the pre-mature level.

During the promotion of Maidaan, Boney Kapoor told Bollywood Hungama, “It surely will come back. When it has to, it will. Infact, recently, I was approached by a foreign studio/western studio. It could be a combination of Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor and that foreign studio. We could be collaborating. So, things are at a very pre-mature level. I can’t talk much but it will happen. In coming times, it will happen for sure.”

Released in 1987, Mr. India captured the imagination of audiences with its unique blend of science fiction, comedy, and heartwarming drama. Directed by Shekhar Kapur and produced by Boney Kapoor, the story revolves around Arun Verma, portrayed by Anil, a kind-hearted and eccentric man who discovers a device capable of rendering him invisible. With his newfound power, he embarks on a journey to fight against injustice and protect the innocent.

The film depicts the bond between Arun, Calendar (Satish Kaushik) and the children he cares for, particularly his spirited ward, Seema, played by the late Sridevi. Their relationship adds depth and warmth to the narrative. Of course, no discussion of Mr. India would be complete without mentioning its iconic antagonist, Mogambo, portrayed by the legendary Amrish Puri. Mogambo's menacing presence and infamous catchphrase, "Mogambo khush hua" ("Mogambo is pleased"), have become synonymous with villainy in Indian cinema, cementing his status as one of Bollywood's most memorable villains.

Meanwhile, Boney Kapoor is gearing up for the release of Maidaan starring Ajay Devgn. Based on the life of Syed Abdul Rahim, the film will release on Eid 2024.

Nitesh Tiwari to begin Ramayana shoot with Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi today; crowd scenes began earlier this week: Report

The much-awaited filming of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana is finally underway. Following a brief delay to rework on the outfits, the production has now commenced at Film City in Mumbai. After meticulous planning and adjustments, the team initiated the crucial phase of look tests with the updated costumes. In parallel, the production team was scouting for body doubles to complement the performances of Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, who are set to embody the iconic characters of Lord Ram and Raavan respectively.

With the commencement of shooting today, April 2, 2024, anticipation among fans and the industry alike reaches new heights. Leading lady Sai Pallavi joins the ensemble, adding further excitement to the project. According to Mid-day, a source revealed, “After the body doubles are locked, they will be called throughout the week to shoot stunts against the green screen. On Monday, the extras were also called on the set to prep for the crowd sequences. Over the next few days, the team will shoot several elaborate scenes featuring a crowd. Nitesh wants everything perfect down to the last detail for his magnum opus.”

Previously, a source told Bollywood Hungama, “As we all know, Ramayana is going to be a three-part film. What many are not aware of is how the makers have divided the story for each part. The first part will introduce Lord Rama, his family at Ayodhya, his marriage with Sita and their 14-year vanvas. The first part is expected to end with the kidnapping of Sita by Ravana. The makers don’t want to rush the story and want to narrate the epic in an entertaining, sensitive and cinematic manner.”

The source added, “The second part is expected to depict Lord Ram and Lakshman meeting Lord Hanuman and the Vaanar Sena, the obstacles they face and finally the construction of Ram Setu. The third part is expected to be about the war between the Vaanar Sena and Ravana’s army, Ravana’s defeat and Lord Ram and Sita’s grand return to Ayodhya.”

The makers have extensively researched and worked on pre-production and if reports are to be believed, Ramayana will be announced on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, that is, on April 17, 2024. Karan Johar confirms Student Of The Year 3 to be web series helmed by Reema Maya; Shanaya Kapoor to headline?

Filmmaker Karan Johar spilled the beans about his upcoming projects at the prestigious Cinevesture International Film Festival (CIFF) in Chandigarh. The audience was treated with confirmation about Student of the Year 3 which will be helmed by Reema Maya of Nocturnal Burger fame. In a candid discussion, Johar shared intriguing details about the third installment of the beloved franchise.

As reported by Times of India, Karan Johar said, “Reema Maya will be directing the digital version of Student Of The Year. But it will be her way and definitely not mine because if I’ll enter Reema Maya’s world, then I will make it more of an illusion, which is what her name means. I just wanted it to be her voice. She made it her own series.”

Last year in June 2023, it was reported that the series will be produced by Dharmatic Entertainment and streamed on Disney+ Hotstar. It will also be a launchpad for Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor's daughter, Shanaya Kapoor in Hindi cinema.

The Student Of The Year franchise previously launched stars like Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra. The second installment saw the launch of Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria and it also starred Tiger Shroff. Confirmed: Akshay Kumar-R Madhavan-Ananya Panday starrer, produced by Karan Johar, is titled Shankara

Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, his first release of 2024. The star is known to have multiple releases in a year and this year will be no exception. One of his exciting upcoming releases is the C Sankaran Nair biopic. It has been reported that the period drama, which went on floors last year, has been titled The Untold Story of C Sankaran Nair. Some even say that it’s called Shankara. Bollywood Hungama has learned about the final approved title of this film, produced by Karan Johar.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The film is indeed being titled Shankara. After a lot of discussions, everyone came to the conclusion that Shankara is apt for this film and also has a Pan-India appeal. This name will be officially mentioned when the next press release or asset of the film is unveiled by the makers.”

Besides Akshay Kumar, Shankara also stars R Madhavan and Ananya Panday, and it chronicles the lawyer’s battle against the British Raj to uncover Punjab Lieutenant Governor Michael O’Dwyer’s role in the ghastly 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. It is based on the book ‘The Case That Shook The Empire’, written by Chettur Sankaran Nair’s great-grandson Raghu Palat and wife Pushpa Palat.

During the announcement of the film, Karan Johar said, “I am extremely excited and honoured to back the film that will unravel the legendary courtroom battle that Sankaran Nair fought against the British Raj to uncover the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Sankaran Nair’s bravery ignited the freedom struggle across the country and is a testament to the power of fighting for the truth.” Shankara will be helmed by debutant director Karan Singh Tyagi

Recently, Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke with Alexx O’Nell, who features in Shankara. He revealed that a major chunk of the shoot of the film is still pending. It now remains to be seen whether or not it makes it to cinemas this year.
