EXCLUSIVE: Ameesha Patel claims Yeh Hai Jalwa got ‘sidelined’ due to Salman Khan’s accident; says, “Had the audience been open to it, that was one film that would have done really well”

Making her debut with Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, Ameesha Patel, who has acted with some of the biggest stars like Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, among others, recently opened up about the films in her career. Riding high on the success of Gadar 2, Ameesha recalled her journey in Bollywood and discussed with Bollywood Hungama about the films she chose, about the films she had faith in, and also discussed the reason behind the films not meeting her expectations.

When asked her about films she had faith in but failed to perform at the box office, Ameesha revealed to Bollywood Hungama that she had a lot of expectations from the Salman Khan starrer Yeh Hai Jalwa, Ajay Devgan starrer Zameer, and Aamir Khan starrer Mangal Pandey. Talking about the film with Salman, Ameesha said, “I think Yeh Hai Jalwa was one of David Dhawan’s, best films. Salman has never looked more handsome and this music and everything was good. But I think earlier, the audiences were not so open about accepting some negative news given by the media about their favorite actors. Salman Khan’s accident had newly happened, so I think Yeh Hai Jalwa got sidelined, Had the audience been open to it, that was one film that would have done really well.”

She further spoke about her film with Ajay, as she continued, “Then there was a film called Zameer with Ajay Devgan, where he is my professor, which was a remake of a South Indian film, which was a national award-winning film. Unfortunately, the producer passed away when the film was about released so it couldn't get to the audiences correctly the way it should have had the producer been alive.”

She also believes that Mangal Pandey did not get its due credit as she added, “So there were a couple of things. Like I didn't think Mangal Pandey needed to be written off so badly the way they wrote it off.” She concluded, “However, films like Bhool Bhulaiyya, Race 2, Honeymoon Travels, I knew somewhere they had strike a chord and they'd work.”

Ameesha Patel and Sunny Deol starrer and Anil Sharma’s recent directorial Gadar 2 has been creating a massive buzz at the box office with the film becoming one of the top grossers in Bollywood.

Dream Girl 2: CBFC mutes ‘b*****d’; removes dialogue on circumcision from Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer

Dream Girl 2 is all set to release this Friday, August 25, and there's excitement for it among audiences. Despite competition from Gadar 2, the comic caper has managed to generate a buzz and has also had decent advance sales till now. The film has undergone the process of censor certification twice in the last one week. Bollywood Hungama in this special report will throw light on this aspect.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) awarded a U/A certificate to Dream Girl 2 on August 16. However, the Examining Committee asked for four changes. They muted the word 'b*****d' at two places. A dialogue on circumcision, 'Phir se khatna karwaoonga, jitna bhi bacha hai', was deleted along with the visuals. Some modification was carried out in the dialogue 'Behen kyun de di'. Finally, an anti-smoking ad was inserted before the start of the second half and an anti-smoking ticker was placed in the smoking scenes. The censor certificate was granted on August 16. At that time, Dream Girl 2's run time was 133 minutes, that is, 2 hours and 13 minutes.

However, on August 21, the makers approached the CBFC again and voluntarily removed as much as 28 minutes of the film. At the same time, they also added 25:31 minutes of footage. In all, the makers deleted 12 scenes and added 16 sequences. An insider told Bollywood Hungama, “It is very rare for a filmmaker to add and remove so many scenes voluntarily in his/her, that too after receiving the censor certificate.” Once these changes were carried out, the final run time of Dream Girl 2 turned out to be 130 minutes, that is, 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Dream Girl 2 stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Ananya Panday, Paresh Rawal, Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Vijay Raaz and others. It is directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, who also helmed Dream Girl’s first part, which was released in 2019.

Indian Matchmaking fame Pradhyuman Maloo accused of domestic violence; wife Ashima Chauhaan files FIR

Pradhyuman Maloo, recognized by many as one of Sima Taparia's high-profile clients on Netflix's Indian Matchmaking, finds himself in a storm of controversy as his wife, Ashima Chauhaan, has lodged a complaint alleging domestic violence. This development comes after the couple's grand wedding in Udaipur in 2022, which garnered attention due to Pradhyuman's appearances on the popular matchmaking show.

According to reports from Hindustan Times, the Mumbai Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Pradhyuman and his family, based on Ashima's accusations. In the FIR, Ashima claimed that she left her marital home in September 2022 due to enduring physical and emotional abuse. She also alleged that her family had been subjected to blackmail and harassment.

Ashima's legal representative, advocate Anmol Bartaria, emphasized the gravity of the allegations, stating, "The allegations in the FIR lodged are grave and concerning with domestic violence and constant mental and physical abuse at its core. The matter is in the investigative stage and should be carried in full swing. Ashima is in the process of taking appropriate legal proceedings against the accused in accordance with the law."

Pradhyuman, in response, said, "I don't know about it. To the best of my knowledge, we are in settlement talks with the lawyers to resolve our marital issues amicably."

Indian Matchmaking, a Netflix reality show following the matchmaking endeavours of Sima Taparia, gained immense popularity with its first season in July 2020. Pradhyuman featured prominently in both the second season, which aired in August 2022, and the recently released third season, which premiered in April this year.

Delhi HC rules against Akshay Kumar's Khiladi producer in trademark dispute over 'Khiladi'

The Delhi High Court has dismissed a plea by the production house behind Akshay Kumar starrer films, Khiladi and Main Khiladi Tu Anari, against the use of the word “Khiladi” in the title of a Telugu film. Justice Jyoti Singh said that the plaintiff, Venus Worldwide Entertainment, had failed to make out a prima facie case in its favour and that the balance of convenience also did not lie in its favour.

As per a report by PTI, the plaintiff had argued that the use of the word “Khiladi” by the Telugu film would deceive and confuse the public, as it would be associated with the plaintiff’s films. However, the court found that the word “Khiladi” is a “generic word of non-distinctive character” and that there was no deceptive similarity between the two films.

The court also noted that as many as 40 films and shows have been produced in various languages with the name “Khiladi” and out of those, only two were produced by the plaintiff.

The defendant, the makers of the Telugu film, had opposed the application and informed the court that the film was released in theatres, both in Telugu and Hindi dubbed versions, in February 2022 and was made available on OTT/Satellite Platforms later.

The court said that the defendant would suffer irreparable loss and injury if the injunction was granted.
