Tahira Kashyap's directorial debut Sharmajee Ki Beti, starring Divya Dutt, Sakshi Tanwar and Saiyami Kher, to arrive on Prime Video on THIS date

Prime Video today announced the exclusive global premiere date for the slice-of-life comedy film Sharmajee Ki Beti. Presented by Applause Entertainment, and produced by Ellipsis Entertainment production the film is written and directed by Tahira Kashyap Khurrana, and stars Sakshi Tanwar, Divya Dutta, and Saiyami Kher in the lead roles, along with, Vanshika Taparia, Arista Mehta, Sharib Hashmi and Parvin Dabas.

The film which takes viewers on a rollercoaster of aspirations, dreams and coming-of-age moments will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in India and over 200 countries and territories on 28 June. A light-hearted and heartwarming movie, Sharmajee Ki Beti explores relevant themes of women’s empowerment and the challenges faced by them. Through the multi-generational lens of three middle-class women and two teenage girls– all sharing the common surname ‘Sharma’, the film delves into their unique experiences and struggles.

BREAKING! Akshay Kumar starrer Welcome To The Jungle delays release to 2025

Fans of Akshay Kumar will have to wait a bit longer to see him in the much-anticipated comedy film Welcome To The Jungle. The film's release, originally slated for Christmas 2024, has been pushed back to 2025.

Production delays impact Welcome To The Jungle’s release date

The postponement is reportedly due to the ongoing production. The film still requires multiple shooting schedules, making meeting the tight Christmas 2024 deadline impossible. This shift in release date avoids a potential box office clash with Aamir Khan's Sitare Zameen Par and the Hollywood release of Mufasa: The Lion King, both slated for December 2024.

Welcome To The Jungle’s original release plans

Earlier reports indicated that producer Firoz A Nadiadwala intended to release Welcome To The Jungle during the lucrative Christmas weekend, mirroring the release strategy of the first Welcome film in 2007. However, as per latest updates, the production timeline necessitated a change in plans.

The film stars Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Johny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Mika Singh, Rahul Dev, Mukesh Tiwari, Sharib Hashmi, Inaamulhaq, Zakir Hussain, Yashpal Sharma, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez and Disha Patani. Sanjay Dutt, too, was a part of the film originally but has now opted out.

On a similar note, it is worth mentioning here that Aamir Khan has recently completed shooting for Sitare Zameen Par. A video has gone viral on social media which shows Aamir Khan spending quality time with the cast and the crew of the film. The actor is seen sharing a conversation in the video. Another photo shows a clapboard of the film, which confirms the shoot has wrapped.

Sunny Deol to resume shoot for Hindi remake of Joseph titled Soorya after two years before kicking off Border 2 schedule: Report

Bollywood actor Sunny Deol is set to return to the big screen with the crime drama Soorya, which he began working on in 2022. Directed by M Padmakumar, Soorya is an official adaptation of the acclaimed Malayalam film Joseph (2018). The remake features Deol in the role of a retired cop who is drawn back into the investigative world to solve a murder case, ultimately uncovering a sinister organ-harvesting racket.

According to a report in Mid-Day, the production for Soorya initially commenced in Jaipur in 2022, but due to various scheduling conflicts and Deol's commitment to other projects, the film's completion was delayed. However, sources have now confirmed that Deol plans to finish shooting Kamal Mukut’s production by November 2024. This timeline aligns with Deol’s current engagements, as he is in the process of wrapping up another project, Lahore 1947.

Deepak Mukut, son of producer Kamal Mukut, shared insights into the film's progress, stating, “We have completed over 80 percent of the film. Sunny will complete the shoot very soon.” Despite the extended hiatus, Mukut emphasized the importance of patience and understanding in the film industry. Deepak added, “He was busy with other projects, and we were trying to work out the dates. We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the Deol family for ages, and it’s fine that Sunny couldn’t shoot for our film earlier. We understand his compulsions.”

The decision to cast Deol in the lead role came after he watched Joseph and expressed a keen interest in its gritty narrative. Deepak Mukut recounted Deol's enthusiasm for the project, noting that the actor immediately agreed to join the remake on the condition that it maintain the same level of intensity and realism as the original. He added, “Sunny is also involved in the creative process. His relationship with us is far more important [than a film]. We’ll wait for him.”

Following the wrap-up of Soorya, Sunny Deol will shift his focus to Border 2, the sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border. The film is scheduled for Republic Day 2026 release – January 23.

Badshah, managers of Sanjay Dutt and Jacqueline Fernandez record statements; ED probes betting app case: Reports

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is digging deep into gambling, and money laundering, amid Bollywood glamour. Their investigation centers on a Mumbai-based event management firm suspected of recruiting celebrities to promote the Fairplay betting app, a subsidiary of the controversial Mahadev betting app. Big names like Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez, and rapper Badshah have come under scrutiny for their alleged involvement. The ED has already recorded statements from Badshah and the managers of Dutt and Fernandez.

As reported by Times Now, this investigation stems from a complaint filed by Viacom18 Media Pvt. Limited, which triggered an FIR by the Maharashtra Cyber Police in Mumbai. Before raiding the event management firm, the ED reportedly obtained a statement from a key individual there. The raids yielded a treasure trove of documents, including contracts with celebrities to promote Fairplay, details on payment methods and transactions, and other crucial company information. Reports suggest Fernandez may have received a hefty sum from a Dubai-based entity, Trim General Trading LLC, for endorsing the app.

The report further states that Badshah's alleged involvement points towards a Melbourne-based company, Lyukos Group FZF. Documents provided by the rapper to authorities reveal Lyukos Group partnered with two Mumbai talent management firms to promote the betting app. Dutt, on the other hand, is suspected of receiving Rs. 25 lakhs from a Singaporean gaming company to promote the app on social media.

The ED is examining all seized documents and the statements from Badshah and the managers. These statements were forwarded by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell for further investigation.

This isn't the first time Bollywood has brushed shoulders with the Mahadev app controversy. Badshah HEARTBROKEN after Dallas concert cut short due to production issues: “This isn't fair to the fans who spend their hard-earned money to purchase that ticket”

Popular Indian rapper Badshah expressed his disappointment after his concert in Dallas, USA, was abruptly terminated midway through the show.  Taking to his social media platform, Badshah penned a lengthy message apologizing to his fans and expressing his frustration with the situation.

 

In his heartfelt note, Badshah stated, “DALLAS, IM so heartbroken and bummed about what happened today." He acknowledged the enthusiasm of his fans, emphasizing, “You guys are incredible and deserve better.”

According to Badshah, the unexpected halt in the concert stemmed from a "discrepancy" between the local promoters and the production company responsible for the event. The rapper vented his frustration with the lack of professionalism, calling the nonchalance "unacceptable to most performing artists."

Badshah highlighted the immense effort that goes into creating a large-scale tour. “It takes a considerable amount of energy and effort to put together a tour of this scale,” he wrote. He emphasized the impact on various stakeholders, including fans who purchase tickets and the dedicated crew members who contribute significantly to the production.

“This isn't fair to the fans who spend their hard-earned money to purchase that ticket," Badshah remarked, expressing his concern for the fans who were looking forward to a complete performance. He further added, “And it definitely isn't fair to the whole crew who pours their hearts into putting on these tours. We rehearse for weeks, plan for months and travel tirelessly to bring you the best possible experience.”

Karisma Kapoor to judge dance reality show India’s Best Dancer 4; set to join Geeta Kapoor and Terence Lewis: Report

Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor is all set to make her non-fiction comeback, joining the popular dance reality show India’s Best Dancer for its fourth season. This marks a new chapter for Kapoor, who has captivated audiences with her on-screen performances for years.

In a report in India Today, it was revealed that the makers were looking to bring in a new Bollywood personality, and Kapoor perfectly fit the bill. Not only is she known for her graceful dancing skills showcased in numerous films, but she also exudes warmth and charm, making her a natural fit for the show's judging panel.

According to the report, Kapoor readily embraced this exciting new opportunity. Having previously appeared as a guest judge on India's Best Dancer, she's familiar with the show's format and energy. While Kapoor's presence is confirmed, the other two judges from previous seasons are likely to return. Geeta Kapoor and Terence Lewis, who have been instrumental in guiding contestants through their dancing journeys, are expected to join Karisma on the panel.

Interestingly, Kapoor wasn't entirely new to television before. Back in 2003, she ventured into the small screen with the Sahara One soap opera Karishma – The Miracles of Destiny.

Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao starrer Stree 2 to release on August 15

Cop-Verse has been replaced by Dinesh Vijan’s Cinematic Universe this Independence Day! While the much-awaited third installment of Singham was slated to release on this specific date, immediately after the news of the film being postponed made headlines, makers of Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao starrer Stree 2 have unveiled its new release date to be August 15.

It seems that the Amar Kaushik directorial has been preponed by 15 days since it was slated to release by the end of the month. Maddock Films have taken to social media to share the good news about the release date of Stree 2 and have also revealed that the teaser of the film will be unveiled in cinemas on June 14 and it will be attached Sharvari Wagh starrer Munjya which released in cinemas earlier this month. saying, “Iss swatantrata diwas, aa rahi hai #Stree fir se! #Stree2 in cinemas this Independence Day, 15th August 2024. Other releases which will clash with Stree 2

While Singham Again was expected to clash with Pushpa 2: The Rule, if it was to release on August 15, recent reports suggest that Pushpa 2 too may be delayed since work on the film is yet to be completed. On the other hand, the multi-starrer Khel Khel Mein starring Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, and others, will be produced by T-Series, have announced its release on Independence Day.

Details about Stree 2

Marking the return of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao to the franchise, Stree 2 is a part of the Dinesh Vijan Cinematic Universe which includes a series of horror comedies including Bhediya and the recently released Munjya. The first installment of this Amar Kaushik directorial was released in 2018 and hence the excitement around this franchise, which marks a return after six years, is quite palpable.
