SCOOP: Akshay Kumar starrer Mission Cinderella to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on April 29, 2022

Akshay Kumar, who was recently seen in Bachchhan Paandey, will next star in Mission Cinderella. He has already wrapped the film and it is set for direct-to-digital release. The film is the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Ratsasan. Reportedly, the film will see Akshay play the role of a cop. This is the first time that Akshay and Rakul Preet Singh will be seen sharing screen. The film is being produced by Jackky and Vashu Bhagnani. As the film is set to release on Disney+ Hotstar, we have a scoop.

SCOOP: Akshay Kumar starrer Mission Cinderella to pemiere on Disney+ Hotstar in April 29, 2022

According to the grapevine, "Mission Cinderella will arrive on Disney+ Hotstar in April 2022 and the makers have decided the release date. The film will be premiering directly on April 29, 2022. This marks Akshay Kumar's second film to hit the platform after Laxmmi."

The satellite and music rights too have been pre-sold and overall, the packaged deal of Mission Cinderella has fetched the producers an approximate profit of Rs 20 crore. "Mission Cinderella isn't exactly a big-screen spectacle that can get the audience on board in big numbers. Both Akshay and the producers know it. On the other hand, the overall budget including Akshay's acting fees was in the range of Rs 175 crore. While the producers did lose out on money in Bell Bottom, they didn't want a deja-vu and hence, after analysing all business models, they finally decided on a direct to digital premiere," the source earlier told Bollywood Hungama.

Ratsasan starred Vishnu Vishal, Amala Paul and Sarvanan. The film narrates the story of a psycho killer who makes young girls his victims and repeatedly escapes from the police.

Aamir Khan reveals he had decided to quit the film industry before the release of Laal Singh Chaddha; says his decision had left Kiran Rao in tears

Actor Aamir Khan revealed that he had considered quitting the film industry in the past two years during the COVID-19 pandemic. He, however, did not announce his decision as he thought people might look at it as a marketing tactic ahead of the release of his ambitious film Laal Singh Chaddha. Aamir also revealed that his ex-wife Kiran Rao was in tears when he told her about his decision.

Aamir Khan reveals he had decided to quit the film industry before the release of Laal Singh Chaddha; says his decision had left Kiran Rao in tears

“No, I quit. Nobody knows this. I'm saying for the first time, you will be shocked. I had informed my family that I won't be doing any films from now onwards. Neither I'll act nor I will produce any films. I don't want to do all this. I just want to spend my time with you all. Kiran and her parents, Reena and her parents, my children, my family are there. I felt that. I understand it was a response in anger. My family was shocked as I was conveying it to them in such an intense way. Nobody argued with me. Then I thought I should tell people that I won't be acting in films now. Then I said if I tell people they will say, ‘This is his marketing scheme as his film Laal Singh Chaddha is about to release, he is announcing his retirement.” Aamir Khan told at ABP Ideas of India Event in Mumbai when asked if he wanted to quit the film industry.

“So I thought it's better to not say this. Anyway, my film comes after three or four years. Once Laal Singh Chaddha gets released nobody will realise if I'm doing anything for the next three or four years. By then I'll leave the industry and nobody will know. So I decided not to say anything and three months passed like this. One day, my children told me that you are an extreme person, don't do this. It will be better if you find a balance in life. I had quit films. In my heart, I had left films. My children and Kiran explained to me I am doing the wrong thing. Kiran cried and said, 'When I see you, I see films residing inside you. What are you saying I'm unable to understand'. A lot happened in two years, I quit the industry and came back," he added.

Aamir also said that he had started working with his daughter Ira Khan after quitting the industry. He joked that his children told him that the time he spent with them in three months was more than what he spent in the last 30 years and that they were a bit tired of him.

On the work front, Aamir will next be seen in the film Laal Singh Chaddha which is set to release on August 11. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film also features Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya.

Christina Ricci officially returns to the Addams Family in Netflix's upcoming live-action series Wednesday

As Deadline reports, details about Ricci’s role are being kept under wraps but it has been revealed that she plays an exciting new character and not an older version of Wednesday. Ricci was brought in following Thora Birch’s exit amid production for personal reasons. She is playing a new character, who is similar to the one originally played by Birch and will replace it on the show. Ricci quietly has been working on Wednesday for weeks; filming on the MGM-produced series is slated to wrap in Romania at the end of the month.

The coming-of-age comedy, written by Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar and directed by Tim Burton, stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams during her years at Nevermore Academy. The eight-episode series is described as a “sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery”. Additionally, Ricci stars alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams and Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams.

Wednesday hails from Netflix and MGM/UA. Al Gough, Miles Millar and Tim Burton serve as executive producers alongside Andrew Mittman for 1.21, Kevin Miserocchi, Kayla Alpert, Jonathan Glickman for Glickmania and Gail Berman.

Christina Ricci previously portrayed Wednesday in 1991’s The Addams Family as well as its sequel Addams Family Values. She currently stars as a grown-up Misty in Showtime’s breakout hit Yellowjackets, which has been renewed for Season 2. Her recent credits also include Amazon’s Z: The Beginning of Everything and The Matrix: Resurrections.

"Censoring The Kashmir Files is attack on freedom" - says New Zealand ex-deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters

The release of Bollywood movie The Kashmir Files has been put on hold in New Zealand. The country's censor board, which had earlier cleared the movie, decided to reconsider its judgment after it was touched on by some community groups. New Zealand’s censor board only allows those above 16 to which the film The Kashmir Files. But the board decided to review its decision and put on hold the screening of the film.

"Censoring The Kashmir Files is attack on freedom" - says New Zealand ex-deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters

The film, which concentrates on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in the 1990s, has been bogged down in controversy since its release on March 11. Former New Zealand deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters has hit out at the movie board and said that censoring the film would be an onslaught on the freedom of New Zealanders. "To censor this film is tantamount to censoring information or images from the March 15th atrocities in New Zealand, or for that matter removing from public knowledge all images of the attack on 9/11," Peters said in a Facebook post.

"Terrorism in all its forms, no matter what its source, should be exposed and opposed.  This attempt at selective censorship would amount to one further attack on the freedom of New Zealanders and people worldwide," he added.

The Kashmir Files, which is directed by Vivek Agnihotri, features Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, and Pallavi Joshi among others.

He further continued and said, "This film has touched the emotions of all people who believe in humanity and that is what is so beautiful about it. I will definitely watch the film and I am happy to see that the film is successful."

BREAKING: RRR to have the largest release in IMAX for an Indian film in overseas markets; makers also planning paid previews in India on March 24

Less than 2 weeks remain for the release of RRR. The excitement is tremendous for multiple reasons. It is the immediate release for blockbuster director S S Rajamouli after the monstrous Baahubali series. The trailer is very entertaining and massy and it has indicated that the Jr NTR-Ram Charan starrer will be a full massy entertainer. As a result, the trade is hopeful that it’ll do well not just in the Telugu version but also in Hindi and other languages.

BREAKING: RRR to have the largest release in IMAX for an Indian film in overseas markets; makers also planning paid previews in India on March 24

Meanwhile, it is also expected to do roaring business overseas due to the hype. Bollywood Hungama has found out that the period actioner is all set to create a record. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “RRR also releases in the IMAX format. Overseas, it’ll have the largest release in IMAX screens ever for an Indian film. Most of the IMAX properties in the USA will be playing the film. The advance bookings in several centres have already begun. The IMAX theatres in other countries too are expected to show the film. The exact figure hasn’t come in yet but more than 100 IMAX theatres outside India will play RRR from March 24 or 25, a first for an Indian film.”

The source explained why RRR was able to achieve this feat, “The buzz for the film is tremendous. There’s a huge demand to see this film among the overseas audience. Moreover, its release timing is also apt. The Indian films of IMAX which were released in the past often arrived during festival time. Usually, some huge Hollywood film would have also been released at the same time and it would have usurped the shows in IMAX theatres. RRR, however, comes at a time when there’s no IMAX film releasing alongside. The Batman, which was released worldwide on March 4, would have completed 4 weeks by the time S S Rajamouli’s film would be released. Hence, RRR would get good showcasing in IMAX.”

The source added, “The Marvel film Morbius releases on April 1 followed by Michael Bay’s Ambulance on April 8 (in the USA and other territories; in India, it will release on March 18) and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore on April 15 (to release in India on April 8). These three films will be screened in IMAX format. RRR, hence, has one full week to itself to score in IMAX. If occupancy is encouraging, it might also get showcasing from Week 2 onwards in these overseas IMAX screens.”

Meanwhile, in India, RRR will be released in all the 21 IMAX theatres. Besides Jr NTR and Ram Charan, RRR also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in a special appearance.

Another interesting update is that if all goes well, RRR will have paid previews in India from Thursday, March 24. Jayanitlal Gada, of PEN India, who is releasing RRR in Hindi speaking markets, told Bollywood Hungama exclusively during a recent interaction that, “We are mulling over it and having discussions. We haven’t decided yet.”

SCOOP: Ajay Devgn in talks to play Tansen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra

While Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt are more or less finalized for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s in-the-pipeline Baiju Bawra there is another male lead in the film, that of the mythic singer Tansen for which the filmmaker wants Ajay Devgn.

SCOOP: Ajay Devgn in talks to play Tansen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra

Although Devgn is yet to sign on the dotted line there is every chance that he will agree. A source close to the development informs, “When SLB worked with Ajay Devgn in Gangubai Kathiawadi after 23 years, he was apprehensive about the experience. But they got along famously. Sanjay Leela Bhansali feels Devgn had a big hand in the success of Gangubai Kathiawadi. He wants Devgn to be part of Baiju Bawra. It is a role with shades of grey in it. But Ajay Devgn has never been afraid to go where others are afraid to.”

Watch out for further developments in this casting coup.
