Pathaan director Siddharth Anand opens up on ‘Besharam Rang’ controversy; says he chose orange bikini “randomly”

The ‘Besharam Rang’ controversy arose when a few fringe groups called for a boycott of the film Pathaan after objections were raised over the colour of Deepika Padukone's bikini in the song. Many demanded that the song be removed or the colour of the costume be changed. However, the makers did not make any changes, and the film was eventually released to positive reviews from the audience. Speaking of the same, director Siddharth Anand shared the story behind choosing an orange colour bikini. It all happened during the News18 Rising India summit 2023. While addressing the issue, Siddharth stated that he chose the costume “randomly” and “never gave it too much thought.” He asserted, “The colour was looking nice. It was sunny, the grass was greener and the water was blue and the orange colour was looking good.” Anand further explained, “We thought when the audience would watch it they would understand that our intent was not wrong.” As he continued, Siddharth mentioned that “they were not scared” while calling the boycott “white noise.” He was quoted saying, “We knew that there was nothing objectionable in our film.” According to Siddharth, he would not hold the audience accountable for their initial reaction to the controversy since they had not seen the film at that point. He expressed gratitude for the audience's overwhelming response to the film, stating that they had shown great support by flocking to theatres to watch it. Concluding his take, the 44-year-old director said, “They (the audience) proved the whole boycott movement wrong. And when you are calling for a boycott of a star or a movie, you are not seeing how many people’s livelihood is dependent on that particular movie especially if it works. At least three hundred people work on a film every day. And when the shoot gets over so many VFX artists work on the post-production. It’s very easy to say boycott, that too, without reason.” Coming to the professional front, Siddharth is currently busy with the shooting of his next venture, Fighter, starring Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan. Ayan Mukerji says Brahmastra 2 and 3 will be shot simultaneously, sequel to release in 2026: ‘We will write it better without comprising it’

Following years of wait and much anticipation, Brahmastra – Part One: Shiva starring Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, and Alia Bhatt released in the theatres on September 9, 2022. While the visual spectacle collected Rs. 257.44 cr in India, the film is the first installment in the Ayan Mukerji-directed trilogy. The director has now revealed that they plan to shoot the sequels simultaneously with an aim to release the second part in 2026. At the News18 Rising India summit in New Delhi, Ayan Mukerji said, “We will make Brahmastra 2 and 3 together. The truth is we are going to take a little bit of time to write it. I know there’s a lot of anticipation.” He added, “People want the (second part of the film) film to come out. But pehle achchi tarah se likhenge without compromising it. I think it will be about three years from now before we see Brahmastra 2 on the big screen." While Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva might have been successful at the box office, it did draw criticism for its weak dialogues which were penned by Hussain Dalal. The filmmaker acknowledged the criticism by saying, “We did get some mixed reactions. We still did really good numbers. A lot of people accepted our film. It also did well when it came out on streaming (platform). It’s probably the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022. But I still hear that criticism very clearly.” He further said, “The thing is I accept and agree with some of it. Some of that criticism came down to some aspects related to the writing and story of Brahmastra. I want to understand these things and make part two better.” Brahmastra also had a cameo of Shah Rukh Khan, with Mouni Roy playing the antagonist. Om Raut and Bhushan Kumar visit Vaishno Devi to seek blessings for Adipurush

Filmmaker Om Raut and producer Bhushan Kumar recently visited the holy Vaishno Devi temple on the occasion of Navratri and to seek blessings for their upcoming keenly awaited film Adipurush, which stars Prabhas and Kriti Sanon in lead roles. For the unversed, Vaishno Devi is one of the foremost pilgrimage sites in India, situated in Jammu and Kashmir. Sharing more about the visit, a statement from the makers said, “Remarking the creation of universe and beginning of the world by Maa Shri Durga, Chaitra Navratri holds immense significance in the Hindu culture! With this belief and Shri Gulshan Kumar’s immense faith in Maa Vaishno Devi, the makers seek divine blessings for Adipurush.” Adipurush is the retelling of the great Indian epic Ramayana. The film will see Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh and Saif Ali Khan essay the roles of Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Raavan respectively. Sharing more about the film, Kriti had told the agency PTI (Press Trust of India) earlier this year, “It is a film that the entire team is extremely proud of. Nawazuddin Siddiqui files Rs. 100 crore defamation case against his brother and estranged wife

Nawazuddin Siddiqui has moved the court for defaming and maligning his image and has filed a defamation suit against Shamas Nawab Siddiqui and former wife Aaliya Siddiqui seeking damages of Rs. 100 crores. As per current reports, the hearing will be held on March 30 by Justice RI Chagla. The suit has come after several allegations were thrown against the Kick actor after his wife accused the Siddiqui family of harassment and torture. In his suit, the actor has alleged that the allegations thrown towards him has affected his public image. In the suit that has been filed through advocate Sunil Kumar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has alleged that he is unable to make any kind of appearances or attend social gatherings owing to the many accusations thrown towards him. He has alleged that these ‘misleading claims’ have impacted his career and hence, he has also requested the court to pass an order of injunction to restrict his brother and estranged wife Anjana Pandey alias Aaliya Siddiqui from making any more defamatory comments against him, along with a request added for taking down the already existing remarks and statements against him. Furthermore, in the same suit, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has also alleged that his brother has committed several fraudulent transactions which has resulted in major monetary loss for the actor. The actor has further alleged that due to misappropriation of funds, the actor currently owes a whopping amount of Rs. 37 crores to the government, after his brother failed to make some major payments. Furthermore, he has also accused his wife Aaliya Siddiqui of being an accomplice to his brother and misappropriating Rs. 21 crores. As per the given report, when Nawazuddin confronted his brother regarding the missing funds, the latter is claimed to have ‘instigated’ Nawaz’s estranged wife against the Siddiqui family, which led to her alleging that how her in-laws tortured and harassed her. With the hearing to be held on March 30, it is yet to be seen how the case proceeds. Salman Khan Threat Case: Dhakad Ram Bishnoi arrested in Jodhpur by Mumbai Police

Over a week ago, Bollywood actor Salman Khan's security was beefed up by the Mumbai Police after one of his associates, Jordy Patel, received a threat via an email. His close friend Prashant Gunjalkar filed a complaint regarding the same and a case was registered at the Bandra Police Station in Mumbai against gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar and a person named Rohit Garg under IPC sections 506(2),120(b) & 34. Now, Mumbai Police has arrested a man named Dhakad Ram Bishnoi in Jodhpur in connection with the email threatening case. As per reports, Dhakad Ram Bishnoi (21) is a resident of Siyagon ki Dhani in Rohicha Kalan village in Jodhpur. He was reportedly out on bail under the Arms Act. Gaurav Yadav, Jodhpur’s DCP (West), said that a team from Mumbai’s Bandra Police had arrived to arrest him. “They asked us to assist them in detaining Bishnoi. We provided them with the support and handed Bishnoi over to the Mumbai PoliceYadav said, as reported by PTI on Sunday. "After a detailed technical investigation into the case, police got information about the accused person's whereabouts, following which a team was sent to Rajasthan and the man was apprehended," a police official said. According to a previous report in PTI, a police official said that “two Assistant Police Inspector (API)-rank officers and eight to ten constables will be part of Khan's security detail round the clock.” The official also added that fans won’t be allowed to assemble outside Salman’s Galaxy Apartments residence in Bandra. It was earlier reported that Y-plus security has been provided to Salman Khan by the police. He will also travel in bullet-proof car with his personal security detail. Additional security measures have also been given to the actor. As per reports, a person named Rohit Garg allegedly issued the threat and mentioned Goldy Brar, Canadian gangster's name, saying the latter wants to meet the actor in person. Recently, Lawrence Bishnoi also allegedly said that killing Salman is his life's goal. In a recent report shared by ABP News, Bishnoi was quoted saying, “There is anger in our society for Salman Khan. He humiliated my society. A case was filed against him but he did not apologize. If he does not tender an apology, be ready to face the consequences. I will not depend on anyone else.” He went on to add that he has been harboring the feeling of hatred ever since childhood. Bishnoi continued, “Will break his ego sooner or later. He should come to our deity’s temple and apologize. Released in 2015, Bajrangi Bhaijaan not only became one of the biggest hits but also a film that found mass acceptance. Starring Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and child actress Harshali Malhotra, the film about the unusual bond between a simpleton Indian and a little Pakistani girl moved hearts. Last year, fans of Salman Khan had a moment of rejoice when the sequel of Bajrangi Bhaijaan titled Pavan Putra was announced. The thought of seeing their favourite star essay the same role again was reason enough to excite them. But there was no update on the project following the announcement. But now, Bollywood Hungama has learnt that Salman has brought Pooja Hegde on board for Pavan Putra. In other words, the film will see her replacing Kareena Kapoor. Whether Pooja will play the same character that Kareena played in the first film is not known yet. Interestingly, Pooja is also the leading lady in Salman’s upcoming release Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Directed by Farhad Samji, the film is all set to release during Eid in April this year. For the unversed, Bajrangi Bhaijaan told the story of a mute Pakistani girl Munni (Harshali), who gets separated from her mother when the latter had visited India with her for a religious purpose. A happy-go-lucky Bajrangi (Salman) comes across Munni and makes it a mission to reunite her with her mother in Pakistan. The film also starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the role of a Pakistani TV journalist Chand Nawab. Akshay Kumar’s remake of Soorarai Pottru to release on September 1

The release date of the Akshay Kumar, Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal starrer Hindi remake of the Tamil film Soorarai Pottru is out. The Sudha Kongara directorial venture will be releasing in theatres on September 1 this year. Produced by Abundantia Entertainment and 2D Entertainment, the yet untitled film is tentatively called Production No. 27. Released in November 2020, Soorarai Pottru starred Suriya, Aparna Balamurali, Paresh Rawal and Mohan Babu, among others. The film was also helmed by Sudha Kongara. The Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru went on floors in April 2022 in an auspicious way through the breaking of a coconut by Radhika. The video of the same was shared by Akshay back then. He had also asked his fans to suggest a title for the film. “With the auspicious coconut-breaking and a small prayer in our heart, we begin the filming of our yet untitled film which is about dreams and the power of it ???? In case you’ll have any title suggestions, do share and of course your best wishes,” said the actor in the caption. Mumbai police take action against gangsters Bishnoi and others for threatening Salman Khan

Not too long ago, there were reports of how Lawrence Bishnoi threatened Salman Khan and told the superstar to apologize to his community after the actor was accused of killing a blackbuck during the shoot of Hum Saath Saath Hain. Now, adding further, a staff member of the Sultan actor’s team has found a threatening letter asking Salman to have a talk with Canadian gangster Goldie Brar, in an email that was sent by a certain Rohit Garg. Salman Khan’s manager Prashant Gunjalkar came across the email last week, which Khan had received from a certain Rohit Garg who asked the superstar to have an interaction with Goldie Garg in order to resolve his issues with Lawrence Bishnoi. Furthermore, the email was reportedly said to have been written under the presumption that Salman Khan witnessed the interview that was given by Bishnoi recently. It had the gangster threatening to kill the superstar, if he didn’t apologize for allegedly killing a blackbuck. For the unversed, the blackbuck killing case that can be traced to the late 90s, witnessed serious allegations against the superstar for allegedly hunting a rare species, which is also considered to be sacred among the Bishnoi community. Followed by the threatening email, on Saturday night, Gunjalkar contacted the Mumbai police and registered a complaint against the three names. As per a statement reportedly given by an official in Bandra police station, the authorities have taken serious cognisance of this threat, followed by which they increased the security for the superstar. And besides that, they also registered a complaint under sections 12(B) and 506(2) of the Indian Penal Code, which includes charges of criminal conspiracy and intimidation. Lawrence Bishnoi is currently in Tihar jail, facing charges of murdering popular Punjabi musician Sidhu Moosewala. Actor-choreographer Salman Yusuff Khan, on Wednesday, took to his social media handle and dropped a video alleging that he was harassed and asked to speak in Kannada by an immigration officer at the Bengaluru international airport. Salman went on his Instagram Live to narrate the “disturbing” incident where he felt harassed by the officer. Along with the video, he shared the details of the incident in the caption as well. REVEALED: Shah Rukh Khan was TAKEN ABACK when he saw the trespassing duo in his make-up room; Mannat’s staff provided them first-aid for their injuries before handing them to the police

Last week, reports came in that two youths sneaked into Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic bungalow Mannat. They were later caught and handed over to the police. Now, reports have emerged that the teenagers had remained hidden in one of the rooms in the bungalow and had given Shah Rukh Khan the shock of his life. As per a report in The Times Of India, the names of these trespassers are Pathan Sahil Salim Khan, aged 18, and Ram Khushuva, aged 19. While the former is a labourer, the latter is a vegetable seller. Both belong to Bharuch, Gujarat and they came to Mumbai on March 1 to see Shah Rukh Khan. On March 2, at 3:00 am, they reached Mannat and taking advantage of the scaffolding erected for repairs, they jumped inside the bungalow. The report further states that they entered the make-up room and remained there till 10:30 am. This is when Shah Rukh Khan entered this room and saw the duo. As expected, the superstar was left shocked and he immediately called a staffperson from his housekeeping team. They were handed to the security team and later were taken away by the police. The police kept them in their custody for a day and realized that they were no evidence of malicious intent. On Saturday, March 4, their parents arrived in Mumbai and secured their bail. A payment of Rs. 20,000 was done to release them from police custody. The parents claimed that they had no idea about the plans of the duo to come to Mumbai. Meawhile, the report claimed that Pathan Sahil Salim Khan and Ram Khushuva suffered minor injuries on their nose while scaling the compound wall of Mannat. Ranbir Kapoor had recently said that he was keen to work with filmmaker Luv Ranjan after he saw the latter’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2. His wish finally came true with Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, which is all set to release day after tomorrow in cinemas. The romantic comedy sees him cast opposite Shraddha Kapoor for the first time. But Bollywood Hungama has learnt that even before that film hits the screens, Luv has offered two more films to Ranbir. One of the two projects is the keenly looked forward biopic of the former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly. The film has been in the news ever since it was announced in 2021. Ranbir also recently said that he is keen to don the role of the cricketer who is nicknamed Dada. Luv, however, won’t be directing the film, which is in the developmental stage right now. He will produce the project as he has the rights. The second film also sounds equally exciting. This yet-untitled movie will see Luv venturing into the action genre for the first. Interestingly, he was keen to cast Ajay Devgn with Ranbir in the film, but it got dropped because of date issues. Both actors were cast as brothers in the film. Tunisha Sharma death case: Sheezan Khan talks about Ali Baba co-star after stepping out of jail; says, “she would have fought for me”

On December 24, actress Tunisha Sharma died of suicide on the sets of SAB TV’s popular show Ali Baba: Dastaan-e-Kabul. A day after Tunisha’s untimely demise, Tunisha's mother lodged an abetment to suicide complaint against Sheezan Khan, who was Tunisha’s co-star as well as her ex-boyfriend. She was, reportedly, depressed about her breakup with Sheezan. Thus on December 25, he was arrested and now after being in jail for nearly 70 days, Sheezan finally stepped out and spoke about the matter. In an interview with Times of India, Sheezan asserted, “Today, I understand the true meaning of freedom and I can feel it. I was in tears the moment I saw my mother and sisters and I am so happy to be back with them.” He further added, “Finally, I am with my family! It’s an overwhelming feeling. All I want to do for a few days is lie in my mother’s lap, eat food cooked by her, and spend time with my sisters and brother. When asked about Tunisha, with whom he broke up 15 days before she passed away, Khan said, “I miss her and if she was alive, she would have fought for me.” Meanwhile, Sheezan’s sister Falaq Naaz said, “We are happy that he is back. We will need some time to process this. Sheezan is finally out, and we are grateful to everyone who stood by us.” Giving the details of the next hearing, Sheezan’s lawyer stated, “It’s nice to see the family together after more than two months. Our case regarding the quashing of the FIR against Sheezan is scheduled to come up for hearing in the High Court on March 9.” For the unversed in her complaint, Tunisha’s mother also accused Sheezaz’s family and claimed that they were forcing the late actress to take up Islamic practices. Post-pandemic, cinema halls are finally witnessing audiences heading to the theatres. While the theatre experience is back, cinemas have been re-releasing movies on special occasions. On Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and late Dilip Kumar’s birthdays last year, cinemas re-released many of their iconic films for a limited time as fans flocked to the theatres to relive memories. Just this Valentine’s Day, movies like Jab We Met, Tamasha and many more movies were welcomed with open arms. It does seem like cinemas would like to continue this experience for fans and interestingly, this may increase the theatre going audience. With many films re-releasing, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar star Ranbir Kapoor was asked if he wants any of his films to be back on silver screen, with many wanting to re-watch Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year. As Ranbir Kapoor is busy with promotions of his upcoming Holi release, the actor does feel cinema and content will always find its audience – if not during release then later on OTT. During a group interaction on Sunday, Bollywood Hungama asked Ranbir Kapoor if he wants any of his movies to be re-released on the silver screen and given a chance again for the audience to experience it, he says, “Cinema and content is such that it always somewhere finds its audience, if not, at the time of the release, maybe 10 years down the line. I remember, I mean I cannot compare that to my film but a film like say Guru Dutt’s film Kaagaz Ke Phool (1959), which was a very big disaster when it was released, or Mera Naam Joker. But, today, Mera Naam Joker is the highest-selling film for RK Films. And you know, whenever it comes on television, or whenever people want the rights of RK Films, they speak about Mera Naam Joker. So films have their own destiny, and films will always find their audience.” Adding to that, Ranbir Kapoor picked Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year as the movie he would pick from his filmography that didn’t get much appreciation from the audience when it was released in theatres back in 2009. He says, “If I have to choose a film that didn’t work in my filmography, I would probably say Rocket Singh also. I don't think it's a very entertaining film. I also believe that if a film doesn't work when it releases and the audience is the key and they're never wrong, so there must be something wrong in the film at that moment, and it didn't work. But in hindsight, if you're sitting at home and if you watch Rocket Singh on OTT, maybe it's a great watch. Maybe if I had to make a film like Rocket Singh today, I should be intelligent enough and wise enough that ‘I should make this film for OTT and not for the cinemas.’ You don't waste people's time and money and release it on an OTT platform.” Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar releases in theatres on March 8, 2023. SCOOP: Allu Arjun’s film with Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Bhushan Kumar tentatively titled Bhadrakali

Earlier in the week, the big announcement about producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and star actor Allu Arjun joining hands for an upcoming project was out, much to the excitement of movie lovers in India. While the announcement made a lot of buzz among the cinegoers, the makers didn’t reveal the title for the film. But Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learnt that the film, which is touted to be a mass entertainer, is tentatively titled Bhadrakali. Interestingly, the film is co-produced by Bhadrakali Pictures, which is Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s production house, which is also owned by his brother Pranay Reddy Vanga. Co-produced by Shiv Chanana, Bhadrakali will go on floors once Sandeep completes shooting the Prabhas starrer Spirit, which is also produced by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures. Before these two films happen, Sandeep is gearing up for his keenly-awaited Hindi film Animal. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol, the movie is due to release this year during India’s Independence Day week on August 11. Singer Benny Dayal met with an accident during a live show. He was performing at a concert in Chennai's Vellore Institute of Technology when a drone hit his head. Due to this, there was a slight injury on his head and fingers. This entire incident has been captured on camera and the video has gone viral on the internet. Addressing the same, on March 3, Benny took to his verified social media handle and shared a video to give an update to his fans and followers. “The drone fans, they hit and bruised the back of my head a little bit. Two of my fingers got completely bruised. But that’s all fine. I think I am going to recover from this much faster,” the singer said in his video post. The actor and his wife Aaliya have been making headlines after Aaliya claimed that she was being harassed at Nawazuddin’s house after his mother filed a complaint against her over a property dispute. She was at his Andheri house after she returned from Dubai with her kids. However, Nawazuddin’s lawyer had claimed that Aaliya was still married to her first husband, Vinay Bhargav. Now, a video has gone viral in which she has claimed that she and her kids were kicked out of the house. She also said that she simply had Rs. 81 with her. In the viral video, Aaliya was heard saying, “I just came from Nawazuddin's house and there (points out in a distance) you can see my daughter who is crying. We were thrown out of his bungalow and we have been told we cannot enter. I cannot understand where should I go with my kids. Aaliya further said, “I do not know, how can Nawazuddin behave in such a manner. Nawazuddin, I can never forgive you for what you are doing to my kids. I just want to show, to all of you, how my kids are suffering at this late hour in the night. It is midnight, and I am stranded in the streets. I do not know where I should go with my kids.” She also claimed that her kids slept on the floor of a relative's house. As reported by Hindustan Times, responding to Aaliya’s claims, sources close to Siddiqui said, “Nawazuddin Siddiqui's ex-wife Aaliya Siddiqui has said that she was not allowed to enter the house but the truth is Nawazuddin has already named the property on his Ammi, Mehrunisa Siddiqui, so Nawaz is devoid of any decision-making power on anyone's entrance in the property. The caretaker of Mehrunisa Siddiqui states that only her grandkids are allowed in the property and no one else as the property belongs to her now.” “Other than this, in a recent viral video in which Aaliya was seen claiming that she does not have any other place to stay or go is technically wrong. To clarify the fact, Nawaz has already bought a lavish flat for Aaliya in Mumbai in 2016 which she has given for rent of her own will. Also, as we clearly see in this video, it is visible that no one is removed from the property as claimed by Aaliya and it is also very evident that the kids were never stopped to enter the property,” sources further told the publication. While speaking with ETimes, about the recent claims made by Aaliya, Shamas Siddiqui said, “As we speak, they are waiting outside the gate. The police are apparently going to help them to get inside. Aaliya stayed with her bhanji (niece) Shivani last night and she is present with them.
