Singer KK dies at 53 after performing on stage in Kolkata

Popular singer KK has passed away. He was reportedly performing on stage in Kolkata in West Bengal when he passed away. He was 53.

As per reports, KK collapsed on stage during his performance and was rushed to the hospital. At around 10 pm, he was brought to the CMRI hospital in Kolkata. However, he was declared dead on arrival. According to reports, he suffered a heart attack on stage.

One of the most versatile singers of the Indian film industry, KK has recorded songs in several languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telegu, Kannada, and Bengali, among others.

KK is survived by his wife and children.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is unarguably the family entertainer of the year. Becoming the second film of producer and actor  Bhushan Kumar and Kartik Aaryan, it marks their second Rs. 100 crore film after Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. The film, produced by Bhushan and Murad Khetani, also stars Kiara Advani, Tabu and Rajpal Yadav. The cast has all reasons to be flying high as the film raked in over Rs. 100 crores in less than 10 days since the release of the film.

Akshay Kumar’s next is Yash Raj Films’ first historical film, Samrat Prithviraj, which is based on the life and valour of the fearless and mighty King Prithviraj Chauhan. He is essaying the role of the legendary warrior who fought valiantly to protect India from the merciless invader Muhammad of Ghor in this visual spectacle. The film has been mounted on one of the all-time biggest superstars of Hindi cinema, Akshay Kumar, and, of course, there is a huge expectation from this film. We can now confirm that YRF has opened advance bookings of Samrat Prithviraj today - May 29th, 2022.

Rohan Malhotra, Vice President - YRF Distribution says, “Samrat Prithviraj is a big screen spectacle based on the life of the great warrior King Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. The film has been conceived, devised and shot in a manner that’s best experienced on the biggest possible screen. Jacqueline Fernandez allowed by court to fly to Abu Dhabi for IIFA awards

Jacqueline Fernandez, who is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate in a Rs. 200 crore money laundering case, has been granted permission by a Delhi Court to travel abroad. Earlier, this year, the actress was stopped from leaving the country owing to her being investigated in a money laundering case involving alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. Earlier this month, Jacqueline had approached the court with a plea to travel abroad for IIFA Award and a few other events. While it was later reported that she briefly withdrew the petition, she has now been allowed to attend the IIFA Awards in Abu Dhabi on June 2 ,3, and 4.

On Saturday, the Delhi Court allowed her plea but set a few conditions for the same. "Considering the facts and circumstances, the application at hand is allowed. The applicant is granted permission to travel to Abu Dhabi, UAE from 31.05.2022 till 06.06.2022 and for this given period, the LOC against the applicant issued in this case shall stand suspended," Additional Sessions Judge Praveen Singh said in the court.

The actress has also been asked to submit Rs. 50 lakh as a guarantee of her return to the country. "The applicant shall submit an FDR to the tune of ₹50 lakhs along with an undertaking that in case of her non-return, the FDR shall stand suspended and shall also provide a surety of ₹50 lakhs, The applicant shall submit her itinerary, place of stay and the number at which she can be contacted. On her return, the applicant shall inform the investigating agency about her return," the court said while imposing the conditions.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Jacqueline was last seen in the film Attack: Part 1. She will next be seen in the mystery thriller Vikrant Rona. The movie will be released in six languages -- Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, and English and is set to hit the theatres on July 28.

West Side Story star Rita Moreno cast as Vin Diesel’s grandmother in Fast X

West Side Story’s Rita Moreno has officially joined the highly-anticipated action film to play Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto’s grandmother.

On Tuesday, Vin Diesel took to Instagram to officially announce the Oscar-winning actress’ casting in the film. “It’s been my dream forever to work with Rita Moreno, and the fact that she’s here playing my grandmother makes my soul smile,” Diesel shared, sitting between Moreno and his longtime co-star Michelle Rodriguez.

“I’m so blessed.” Diesel then pans the camera to focus on Moreno, as she says, “You know what, I think I was getting … I think my old age was waiting for you to invite me. Isn’t that nice? And I’m here. And the answer is yes, I’ll do it.”

“And yes, not only do it, but I’m tickled,” she adds, “I’m tickled to hell to do it. I’m so thrilled. It’s going to be such fun!” After exchanging “thank you’s” and “I love you’s,” Rodriguez chimes in at the end of the 42-second clip, exclaiming, “Rita Moreno in the house, baby!”

Rita Moreno joins the cast alongside franchise newcomers Brie Larson, Jason Momoa, and Alan Ritchson. Those returning to the Fast And Furious universe include Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris, Sung Kang, Nathalie Emmanuel, Tyrese Gibson, Scott Eastwood, as well as Charlize Theron as the villainous Cipher.

Samuel L. Jackson joins Chris Pratt in animated feature Garfield

Samuel L. Jackson is joining Chris Pratt in the upcoming animated Garfield movie currently in the works at Alcon Entertainment. Jackson will play a brand-new character, Garfield’s father, Vic.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pratt was earlier announced to voice the lasagna-loving, Monday-hating comic strip feline Garfield in the new animated movie based on a script written by David Reynolds and directed by Mark Dindal. Sony Pictures is distributing globally (excluding China).

DNEG Animation is animating and producing the film with Alcon Entertainment. John Cohen and Steven P. Wegner are producing alongside Alcon co-founders and co-CEOs Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, as well as DNEG CEO Namit Malhotra and President Tom Jacomb, with Davis, Amuse’s Bridget McMeel and Craig Sost executive producing.

The upcoming animated film will be the first in the Garfield franchise since 2009, following the movie Garfield’s Pet Force. Meanwhile, the live-action/computer animated hybrid films Garfield: The Movie and Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties hit theaters in 2004 and 2006 respectively, with Bill Murray voicing the lasagna-loving feline.

Samuel L. Jackson, most recently, starred in Apple TV+ series The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey. He will next appear in the highly anticipated Disney+ series Secret Invasion coming out later this year. In 2023, Jackson will return to the big screen with two roles in the MCU, reprising his role as Nick Fury in both Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels.

The upcoming Garfield film is set to bow on November 22, 2023.

The film focuses on Babloo (Tiger Shroff) who is a computer genius and Inaaya (Tara Sutaria), a self-made billionaire. The two fall in love but due to unforeseen circumstances they suddenly part ways. Things take an interesting turn when they are reunited and what follows is action, drama, romance and edge of the seat thrills.

As Korean tabloid Soompi reports, a photo taken on Jeju Island featuring two individuals resembling Jennie and V recently spread on online communities, leading to rumors that the two are in a relationship. When reached out for a response by news outlets, Jennie’s agency YG Entertainment briefly commented, “We have nothing to say [regarding this matter],”

“We will inform you if we have a different response to share,” the agency added.

Aditya Chopra recreates 12th century Delhi, Ajmer and Kannauj for Akshay Kumar starrer Prithviraj

Akshay Kumar’s next is Yash Raj Films’ first historical, Prithviraj, which is based on the life and valour of the fearless and mighty King Prithviraj Chauhan. He is essaying the role of the legendary warrior who fought valiantly to protect India from the merciless invader Muhammad of Ghor in this visual spectacle. We have confirmed information that the producer of the film, Aditya Chopra, recreated 12th century Delhi, Ajmer and Kannauj from scratch and allocated over 25 crores as set design budget!

 

 

Akshay Kumar says, “It was quite a task to make this film into a visual delight for audiences because we wanted to promise a big screen entertainer for everyone. Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan was chosen as the ruler of India and Delhi became his political capital. So, it was important that we recreated 12th century Delhi, Ajmer and Kannauj, cities that are linked to his reign and life authentically for people to see how magnificent the city really looked during that time.”

Director Chandraprakash Dwivedi adds, “Aditya Chopra took on the Herculean task to recreate Delhi, Ajmer and Kannauj and I have to congratulate the entire set-design team for being able to pull off the unthinkable. Real marble was used to build the city, 900 workers toiled hard for about eight months to build this gigantic set that was a marvel for our eyes. Every element of the city, including Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’s palace was built from scratch.”

He adds, “I think Aditya Chopra must have spent crores and crores of money just to get the city built to perfection. So, if people are loving what they are seeing in the trailer, they will have to wait and watch the film to see the grandeur of our sets in its full glory!”

Prithviraj has been directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, who is best known for directing the television epic Chanakya and the critically acclaimed film Pinjar. The ethereally gorgeous Manushi Chhillar plays the role of King Prithviraj’s beloved Sanyogita and her launch is definitely one of the most awaited debuts of 2022. The film is set to release on June 3 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Just a day Bollywood Hungama was the first to report that Aayush Sharma had walked out of the Salman Khan starrer Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. While fans of the Bollywood superstar are eagerly awaiting the release, the film’s shoot schedule may be delay owing to the casting woes that the makers are facing. Recent reports also suggest that Zaheer Iqbal, who made his Bollywood debut with Notebook, may not be a part of the film anymore. Hence, these reports have it that the makers may have to search for two replacements.

Furthermore, rumours are rife that Abhimanyu Dassani, who is currently gearing up for the release of Nikamma, will be roped in for the film. Along with that, the makers are reportedly considering Meezan Jafri for one of the roles too. However, there has been no official statement that was released neither by the actors nor by the makers of Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. While the film is said to have gone on floors, if these rumours are to be believed, it is being said that the shoot schedule might face a setback due to the changes in the casting.

In our earlier reports, our source had revealed that Aayush Sharma walked out of the film owing to creative differences. As for Zaheer Iqbal, reports have it that the actor had never spoken about his association with the film in the past.

In the past, the film has faced some issues. From changing hands in terms of production from Sajid Nadiadwala to Salman Khan, Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali has witnessed some changes in the past. There were also rumors that Farhad Samji might be replaced. However, the filmmaker continues to be a part of the film. Besides them, the film also stars Sooraj Pancholi, Pooja Hegde amongst others.

Anek passed with U/A certificate; CBFC removes 'B**** c**d', 'R****khana', 'L***a', 'F**k' from the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer

Ayushmann Khurrana is known for making light-hearted comic capers with a social message. However, in 2019, he surprised everyone by starring in Article 15. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the hard-hitting film commented on the caste system and got unanimous acclaim as well as box office success. Despite releasing a week after Kabir Singh, it managed to collect Rs. 65.45 crore and hence, it was a real success story. Hence, there’s a curiosity around their next film, Anek. This time, he has taken up the subject of the conflict in the North-East part of India and the racism faced by its residents.

The trailer of the film was released earlier this month and got praise from all quarters. Bollywood Hungama has found out that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed the film with a U/A certificate, after making certain cuts.

As per the cut list, the CBFC’s examining committee asked for 5 cuts or additions. The first two is regarding the insertion of the opening disclaimers, that the film is a work of fiction, and secondly, that the film does not intend to promote crime committed by children.

Thirdly, cuss words like 'B**** c**d', 'R****khana', 'L***a', 'F**k', D******d', 'Son of a b***h' were removed or replaced with non-objectionable terms. The CBFC even removed the word 'Dhandewali' from one dialogue. Fourthly, the CBFC, in some places, also asked to remove or replace the words like ‘China’ and ‘Chinese’ used to depict North-Eastern girls. Lastly, a dialogue around a real-life personality was asked to be either removed or replaced.

Interestingly, the scene where a bullet rips apart a book on Mahatma Gandhi was left untouched. The shot can also be seen in the trailer of the film.

Anek was granted the certificate way back on March 25. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 147.50 minutes. In other words, Anek is 2 hours and 27 minutes long. The film is all set to be released on May 27.

Supreme Court refuses to stop streaming of Amitabh Bachchan starrer Jhund on OTT

The Amitabh Bachchan starrer Jhund has found itself in rough waters with an injunction being filed to stop the streaming of the biographical film on OTT platforms. However, the makers of the film and of course all related to it can finally breathe a sigh of relief with the Supreme Court refusing to stop the streaming of the film on OTT.

In a ruling passed earlier today, Thursday, a bench headed by Justice L Nageswara Rao upheld the order of the top court dated May 5, 2022, stating that the film would continue streaming. Further, in its judgement, it also directed the High Court to consider the revision petition filed by Hyderabad-based filmmaker Nandi Chinni Kumar, immediately after the summer vacation.

For the uninitiated, earlier this year a petition was filed to stop the release of Jhund, with the plaintiff, Nandi Chinni Kumar claiming copyright infringement. However, the plea was declined by the court, allowing the film to release in theatres. Following this, Kumar had moved the court yet again, this time seeking a stay on the streaming of the film on OTT. However, in April the High Court ordered status quo concerning the release of the movie on OTT platforms.

As for the film, Jhund that released on March 4, later featuring on Zee5 in May is a biographical sports film based on the life of Vijay Barse, founder of NGO ‘Slum Soccer’. The film is about a notorious street gang that engages in petty crimes and other illegal activities. However, a coach shapes them into a football team. Apart from Amitabh Bachchan, the film also stars Rinku Rajguru, Ankush Gedam, and Akash Thosar among others.

After getting bail in the alleged distribution and production of pornography films, Shilpa Shetty Kundra's husband, Raj Kundra, has once again laded into legal trouble and this time, with Enforcement Directorate (ED). As per reports, the ED booked the businessman for money laundering case on an FIR filed by Mumbai Police against him and several others, alleging that they ran pornographic apps. The agency will be summoning Raj Kundra and others in the case to investigate.

But, his lawyer says they have no idea what ED wishes to probe. “We don’t know what money laundering aspect ED wishes to investigate in the case. We haven’t received any official communication from ED regarding registration of any ECIR (Enforcement Case Information Report) yet,” advocate Prashant Patil said, according to Hindustan Times.

For allegedly distributing/ transmitting sexually explicit movies, the Mumbai Police's cyber unit had filed a case against Kundra under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, Indecent Representation of Women (Prevention) Act, and Information Technology Act. Sherlyn Chopra and Poonam Pandey, both actors, were identified as co-accused in the FIR.

Breaking: Kangana Ranaut to return as Agent Agnee in Dhaakad sequel

Those of us who have been lucky enough to see Kangana Ranaut’s Kill Bill act in her on-release actioner Dhaakad will vouch for the fact that she is steps ahead of Uma Thurman in Kill Bill. Kangana as Agent Agnee in Dhaakad is super-agile and fabulously flexible. Far more so than some of Bollywood’s major action heroes.

“All her action scenes have been choreographed by a team of international action directors,” says producer Sohel Maklai proudly. There is every possibility of Kangana returning as Agent Agnee in the sequel to Dhaakad. The producers are working on building Kangana’s character into an ongoing franchise. Arjun Rampal who is super-dynamic as the arch-villain in Dhaakad will also return in the sequel.

This is not the first time that Kangana would be part of a franchise. She has done Aanand L Rai’s Tanu Weds Manu and Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Her all-new action avatar in Kangana is a first for Hindi cinema.

Kangana Ranaut says Salman Khan is a 'good friend'; calls out Aamir Khan for not rooting for her

Actor Kangana Ranaut, known for her scathing words towards the industry people especially the superstars, was recently seen attending Eid party hosted by Salman Khan's sister Arpita Khan and her husband Aayush Sharma. While promoting Dhaakad, the actress said that she attended the bash since Salman Khan invited her and that she is 'good friends' with him.

Talking about attending Eid celebrations, Kangana said in an interview with RJ Siddharth Kanan, “They were only talking about the trailer. Mere kehna ka matlab hai, jab aap itne bade level pe se ek trailer se impress hai, yeh itna chupayi hui baat kyun hai?”

Kangana continued, “It’s not that I don’t attend Bollywood parties, I go where I want. Salman is a very good friend of mine, usne party pe bulaya, toh main chali gayi (he called me for his party, so I went). As simple as that.”

Salman Khan had recently praised Kangana's trailer of Dhaakad. Sharing the trailer on his social media, hewrote, “Wishing team #Dhaakad the very best! @kanganaranaut @rampal72 @smaklai.” Kangana was quick to respond to his post on her Instagram story and shared, “Thank you my Dabangg hero heart of gold…I will never say again that I am alone in this industry…thank you from entire Dhaakad team.”

But, the actress said that Aamir Khan often invites her for movie trials and screenings and even praises her work but hasn't ever been reciprocate when it comes to promoting her films on digital platform. When asked whether she ever urged any of them to promote the films on the digital platforms, she said, “I am beyond that now. At the time of Manikarnika, I told people personally, including Aamir Khan. I have made calls saying that, ‘You always call me for your trials like PK or Dangal. You also talk about my films.’ Now I am beyond that stage.”

So far the focus of interest in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies, has been on  the  youngsters. Well, believe it or not the youngsters have  parents too! And Zoya has gone for some  unusual casting in the senior roles. Two of the star kids in the cast Suhana Khan and Agastya Nanda’s mothers will be played Koel Puri and Tara Sharma, respectively.

Twenty years ago, Tara made her debut as a leading lady in Anupam Kher’s directorial Om Jai Jagdish where she was cast as Abhishek Bachchan’s wife. Now, Tara will be seen as  Abhishek’s nephew’s mother.

Koel Puri, daughter of media baron Aroon Purie, was never keen on an acting career. She did try her luck in  the movies with films like Everybody Says I’m Fine and The Great Indian Butterfly. Coincidentally, Koel too, like Tara, made her debut in a film Everybody Says I’m Fine  directed by an actor-turned-director Rahul Bose. She was last seen in  the Sonam Kapoor cricket satire The Zoya Factor. Now, Koel is all set to be directed by Zoya Akhtar in The Archies.

Interestingly, both actresses were chosen for their physical resemblance to their screen kids; Agastya Nanda and  Suhana Khan can pass off as Tara Sharma and Koel Puri’s  child.

Bharti Singh apologises for hurting religious sentiments - “Main comedy karti hoon logo ko khush karne ke liye na ki kisi ka dil dukhane ke liye”

Comedian Bharti Singh has taken to social media to post an apology after receiving backlash over an old video. She was been accused of hurting religious sentiments after a video of hers went viral on social media in which she was making fun of beards and moustaches as many said she was disrespecting the Sikh community.

On Instagram, Bharti captioned her video, “Main comedy karti hoon logo ko khush karne ke liye na ki kisi ka dil dukhane ke liye .agar meri kisi baat se koi hurt hua ho tho maaf kar dena aapni behan samjh ke (I do comedy to make people happy, not to make them unhappy. I am sorry if I hurt anyone, please forgive me).” Since then, she has disabled comments on the post.

In the viral video, the comedian is seen talking to Bigg Boss participant Jasmin Bhasin during her appearance on her comedy series Bharti Ka Show. She says, “Dhadhi mooch kyu nahi chahiye. Dhadhi mooch ke bade fayede hote hain. Dudh piyo, aise dhadi munh mein daalo, sewaiyon ka taste aata hai. Mere kaafi friends logo ki shaadi hui hai na, jinki itni itni dhaadi hai, saara din dhadi mein se jue nikalti rehti hai (what’s wrong with beards and moustaches, they have many benefits. Drink milk, and then put the beard in your mouth, you will be able to taste sewaiyaan. Many of my friends have gotten married to men with long beards, and spend the entire day removing lice from them).”

The video was viral on social media after which she received a lot of backlash. She took to Instagram to post a video and said, “For the past one or two days, a video has been going viral. People have also sent this to me, sent messages that I have made fun of beards and moustaches. Please watch that video, I have not mentioned any religion or any caste in it, or that people of this religion keep such beards and face such problems.”

She continued, “You can watch that video, I never said that Punjabi people keep beards. It was a genuine conversation, I was doing comedy with my friend. A lot of people keep beards and moustaches these days. But if people from any religion or caste have been hurt by my comments, I apologise to them with folded hands. I am a Punjabi myself, born in Amritsar, I will always keep Punjab’s honour and I am proud of being a Punjabi.”

Currently, Bharti Singh, who recently gave birth to a baby boy, is hosting The Khatra Khatra Show, along with her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa.

Chopra, who has always loved the ocean, experienced the magic beneath the surface in 2013 when she took her first breath underwater in Bali. As soon as she surfaced from that dive, she was hooked - and protecting the ocean became very personal for her, receiving her PADI Open Water Diver certification later that year in Palau. Since then she has inspired others around the world–from her family and friends to fans in India– to try scuba diving so they can join her in seeking adventure and saving the ocean.

“The first time I came up to the surface after diving, I was crying because it was such a life-changing experience,” says Ms. Chopra. “It is now something I can’t live without. With over 67 million social media followers and having recently starred in the Netflix movie The Girl on the Train, Chopra joins an elite group of celebrity influencers determined to take personal action and bring about real change for healthier oceans. Spending nearly all her free time diving around the world, Chopra shares her love for the ocean with her fans, as diving is an important part of her life that allows her to return to nature and reset. She will work with PADI to encourage others to experience the beautiful world underwater as PADI Divers and join her in helping to achieve balance between humanity and the ocean.

Producer Sandeep Singh makes his directorial debut with Safed starring Abhay Verma and Meera Chopra; first look to unveiled at Cannes 2022

Filmmaker Sandeep Singh has made his mark as a successful and acclaimed producer by producing films like Ram-Leela, Mary Kom, Rowdy Rathore, Sarawatichandra, Aligarh, Sarbjit, Bhoomi, and Jhund. After completing more than two decades as a producer now Sandeep Singh is set to make his directorial debut with Safed, an unimaginable love story. He promises to give a sensitive portrayal of a section of society that exists but is rarely seen. The film was shot in world’s oldest city Banaras in just 11 days with the minimal crew of 35 people. Given Sandeep's extensive experience in the Indian film industry, his directorial debut is bound to generate interest all across the board.

Taking the film internationally, the makers are heading to Cannes to unveil the first look of Safed with the lead actors Abhay Verma and Meera Chopra, along with the director Sandeep Singh, producers, Vinod Bhanushali and Ajay Harinath Singh. Co-producers Vishal Gurnani and Juhi Parekh Mehta will also be a part of the delegation.

Sandeep Singh shared, "I am honoured to begin my directorial venture with a film like ‘Safed’, a story that remains largely untold, a narrative that is underlined with stereotypical attitudes, and the truth that has to be told wholesome. It is humbling and encouraging that I begin with a story that comes from a world that most of us know so little about; a story that pains my heart in a way that gives me happiness.

Vinod Bhanushali, who founded Bhanushali Studios Limited in 2021, holds an experience of around 3 decades in the field of film marketing and music. After leading the marketing and licensing of over 1100 films in Hindi film industry with India’s biggest music label and co-producing films like Tanhaji, Kabir Singh, and many more, Vinod is currently backing real stories closer to his homeland - India. Vinod Bhanushali shared, "Safed is a special film in many ways. I am proud to be associated with it and also glad that I am able to back Sandeep’s vision.

Safed stars actor Abhay Verma and Meera Chopra in the lead. It is written and directed by Sandeep Singh.
