R Madhavan doesn’t want to be Manu in Tanu Weds Manu anymore; says, ‘No point beating a dead horse’

R Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut wooed audiences with a romance-comedy franchise Tanu Weds Manu. The two films that released with the onscreen couple managed to garner immense audience appreciation both times. However, we haven’t seen the return of the third part despite the way people appreciated the chemistry between the pair. When asked the hero, Madhavan, who is the in the midst of promoting Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, revealed that he wouldn’t want to return as Manu.

In report by Hindustan Times, Madhavan was quoted in an interview with the popular YouTuber Jaby Koay, wherein he spoke about the third part of Tanu Weds Manu. “I think that’s water under the bridge. There is no point in beating a dead horse. You know, it’s so difficult to come up with original stuff, and then there are expectations of a film. See, if it’s a sequel to Avengers or a superhero series, it’s easier because you have a template. But with Tanu Weds Manu, it’s impossible. And I think I am done with it. I don’t want to go back to being Manu now,” he was quoted saying.

For the uninitiated, Tanu Weds Manu that released in 2011, showcases the story of the two titular characters, how they meet and how complex their love story gets, eventually leading to marriage. Tanu Weds Manu Returns in 2015 spoke about their post marriage life which deals with their internal issues and the entry of yet another character named Datto who adds twist to the plot. While the 2011 release had garnered a positive response from the audience, the 2015 film managed to break records.

Speaking about Madhavan's forthcoming film Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, it marks the directorial debut of R Madhavan and is based on the life of the ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan. It is slated to release on July 1.

Aryan Khan moves the court to release his passport

Aryan Khan was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on the charges of being involved in a drug case. However, the star kid was given a clean chit by the court recently in the case and now owing to the same, Aryan moved the court on Thursday, requesting them to return his passport.

Aryan Khan was accused of being involved in a drug case after the NCB department conducted a raid on a Goa cruise which included some high profile names on the guest list. He was arrested and imprisoned due to the same, along with which his passport was seized due to the bail conditions. He was granted bail post 20 days of his imprisonment. However, in a charge sheet filed in May, the name of the star kid was not included. And later, Aaryan and five other accused were given a clean chit by the NCB due to insufficient evidence.

Owing to the same, Aryan Khan filed an application on Thursday with the help of his lawyers from the Desai Desai Carrimjee and Mulla firm, asking the court to return his passport, as per PTI reports. And in response to the same, the court has ordered NCB to file a reply before the next hearing which is expected to be held on July 13.

BREAKING: Gupt’s special screening to be held in Mumbai on the occasion of its 25th anniversary; Bobby Deol, Manisha Koirala, and Kajol to grace the screening

One of the greatest murder mysteries of Bollywood, Gupt, completes 25 years on July 4. Released in 1997, the film starring Bobby Deol, Manisha Koirala and Kajol was a super-hit due to the whodunit element, tight script, performances and of course, the unforgettable soundtrack. In short, Gupt is a landmark film in Bollywood. And when such an important film turns 25, the celebrations have to be there.

Bollywood Hungama has learnt that a special screening of the film will be held in Mumbai to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Popular radio station, Radio Nasha, has taken the initiative to organize the screening on Saturday, July 9, at Metro INOX Cinemas in South Mumbai. Interestingly, several members of the cast and crew will attend this show – lead actors Bobby Deol, Manisha Koirala and Kajol, director Rajiv Rai, writer and production designer Shabbir Boxwala, music director Viju Shah, etc. Fans will also get a chance to win tickets to this screening, and thus be a part of this unforgettable event.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Gupt has achieved cult status. It had worked big time in cinemas. Those who had seen it on the big screen would get a chance to once again see the film in a cinema hall. Many are huge fans of the film and songs but they were born after the release of the film or were too young when it had released in theatres. They’ll get to experience the magic of the film in all its glory. Also, the actors and other team members would share trivia about the film and that’ll be an icing on the cake.”

When contacted, Shabbir Boxwala exclusively told Bollywood Hungama, “The way Radio Nasha is planning it, I am very thrilled. At the time of the release, we couldn’t enjoy the success, due to certain reasons. We can finally enjoy the film’s success now. I told the same thing to Rajiv as well, that let’s enjoy it now. God has given us a chance (laughs)!”

He also said that “All the actors are also excited for the screening, including Mukesh Rishi and Dalip Tahil. Unfortunately, some cast members are no more, like Om Puri. He was a vital part of the film. Even Ashok ji (cinematographer Ashok Mehta). I’ll miss him the most.”

Radio Nasha has held several such screenings of significant films in the past. One of their most memorable events was the screening of Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994), on its 25th anniversary. It was held on August 9, 2019, at Mumbai’s Liberty cinema. Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, director Sooraj Barjatya and many others had graced the screening. The way the lead actors danced and the way the cast and crew went down memory lane made it a very exciting occasion.

Being one of the cult romantic dramas of the early 2000s, the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Minnale, Rehnaa Hai Tere Dil Mein (RHTDM) was known for its music and R Madhavan had become a national crush with the film. Maddy aka Madhavan, who will now be making his directorial debut with Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, recently was asked about the remake of RHTDM and the actor believed that a film like that should not be remade. On the other hand, he also said that, in case it is remade, he would like Kartik Aaryan and Alia Bhatt to play the lead.

Readers would be aware that Rehnaa Hai Tere Dil Mein marked the debut of Dia Mirza and R Madhavan in Bollywood. The film also featured Saif Ali Khan in a pivotal role. Gautham Vasudev Menon, who also directed the original Tamil version titled Minnale, directed the Hindi version too. Speaking about the cult status the film has acquired over the years, R Madhavan referred to remake of the film as ‘foolishness’. In an interview with Pinkvilla, the actor said, “I think it’s foolishness, and that’s my opinion. I wouldn’t want to touch that. I wouldn’t do it as a producer. I wish them all the very best from the bottom of my heart, I do.”

He went on to call the remake of RHTDM as a ‘brave decision’ adding, “For the audiences it is more than a movie. It is sort of an anthem in some ways. It’s like almost saying that 15 years from now you want to remake 3 Idiots. I don’t think it's a sensible…”

On the other hand, when he was asked about Rehnaa Hai Tere Dil Mein dream cast for a remake in an India Today interview, the actor responded, “I don’t think the film will be made, but I don't know who else I will cast. But maybe, Kartik (Aaryan), Alia Bhatt maybe.”

Oscars 2023: Suriya, Kajol, Reema Kagti, Billie Eilish, Anya Taylor-Joy among 397 members invited by The Academy

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to 397 distinguished artists and executives to join the organization in 2022. Membership selection is based on professional qualifications, with an ongoing commitment to representation, inclusion, and equity. This year's class of invitees includes 71 Oscar nominees, including 15 winners.

From India, Suriya and Kajol are among the 397 people that have been invited to become members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Director-writer Reema Kagti, producer Aditya Sood and documentary filmmakers Sushmit Ghosh and Rintu Thomas are also included in the list. International stars including Anya Taylor-Joy, Billie Eilish, Jamie Dornan, Dana Walden, and Leonard Maltin have been invited as well among others. According to Variety, "The 2022 class is 44% women, 37% belong to underrepresented ethnic/racial communities, and 50% are from 53 countries and territories outside the United States."

A selection of this year's invitees includes Michael Greyeyes (Wild Indian) to the Actors branch, Elodie Demey (Summer of 85) to Casting Directors, Martin Ruhe (The Tender Bar) to Cinematographers, Paul Tazewell (West Side Story) to Costume Designers, Andrew Ahn (Fire Island) to Directors, and Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh (Writing With Fire) to Documentary.

Aur phir bhi dates nahi diye toh main Boney Kapoor ke saath film kar loonga aur phir Sanjay Kapoor ke saath. Unke family aise bahut log hain.” (I want to work with him for sure, 100 percent but he is the one who doesn’t give me the dates. Because of that I have now worked with Anil Kapoor, then later, if he continues this, I will work with Boney Kapoor and then with Sanjay Kapoor too. There are many members in that family I can work with.)”

Referring to the popular hashtag on social media,#Varjun, Varun asserted that they will do a film soon. He added,  “We definitely want to work together and in fact humne Anees Sir ko bhi kahan hai ki humare saath ek film karein. (I have even spoken to Anees Sir asking him if he can do a film with us). Definitely we will work together. Waise Arjun is also looking so fit and good. He is getting a lot of female attention.”

Speaking of Jugjugg Jeeyo, the film also stars Kiara Advani and Neetu Kapoor along with Maniesh Paul and Prajakta Koli. Directed by Raj Mehta and produced by Karan Johar under Dharma Productions, the film released on June 24.

Kartik Aaryan's Box Office track record: Of last 5 releases, 1 Blockbuster, 1 Superhit and 2 Hits

Five weeks ago, we saw the release of the Anees Bazmee directorial Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Starring Kartik Aaryan, the film that opened on a good note saw its business increase multi-fold as the weeks progressed. In fact, the Bhushan Kumar – Murad Khetani productions venture that also featured Kiara Advani has been doing rather well, managing to cross the Rs. 100 crore and Rs. 150 crore mark. Now, at the close of its fifth week running, the film's business has slowed down, but is inching its way closer to the Rs. 200 crore mark.

As Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 dominates the box office window, looking back at Kartik Aaryan’s last five releases at the box office what stands out is the fact that the actor has been doing rather well. In fact, among the last five releases Kartik has enjoyed one blockbuster in the form of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which has collected Rs. 183.81 crore, one super-hit in the form of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018) that drew in Rs. 108.95 crore, two hits with Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019) and Luka Chuppi (2019) that collected Rs. 86.89 crore and Rs. 94.75 crore respectively. The sole underperformer at the box office among Kartik’s last five release being the 2020 release Love Aaj Kal that drew in Rs. 34.99 crore.

With four out of five films working magic at the box office, Kartik Aaryan has fast emerged as one of the most bankable young stars. Meera Chopra to star in Super Woman, a film on asexuality

Meera Chopra is renowned for her bold choices of roles on screen. Her upcoming film Super Woman is India's first film on asexuality. The first look of another film featuring Meera, titled Safed, was recently unveiled in the latest edition of the famous Cannes Film Festival.

On Super Woman, Meera Chopra said, "I was so intrigued by the script. The term 'asexual' is alien to Indians. So many women and men struggle to make their peers understand how they feel about it. While researching for the film, I came across jaw-dropping statistics on the number of suicides and forced marriages of asexual women. It is alarming! With "Super Women," we aim to bring a ray of hope to people who are struggling to convey their real feelings to society."

Sharing his thoughts, Piiyush Singh, Chief Operating Officer, Golden Ratio Films said, "As a production company, GRF has a reputation for producing films that the general public can identify with. Super Woman is a special cinema that sheds light on a theme that will resonate widely with discerning audiences."

On her recent film Safed's outing at the Cannes Film Festival, Meera stated, "It was a surreal and overwhelming experience for us. We were wearing the badge to represent our country and represent the revolution in Indian cinema. 'Safed' is a heart-warming film that shows the true essence of the struggles faced by widows and transgenders in society. A.R Rahman unveiled the first look of our film, making it even more special. "

Meera added, "Super Woman is an ode to all the superwomen out there who are defying societal norms. The world out there needs to know that a woman cannot be defined by her sexuality. ‘Sexual' or 'asexual,' every woman has the ability to conquer the world. We are not the 'weaker' sex anymore. A woman's greatest strength doesn't lie in her sexuality, it lies in her character, her spirit, and her personality. A woman’s worth is beyond her sexuality and our film states this beautifully. While researching I was appalled to see documentaries that belittled women merely as sex objects."

Super Woman has been directed by Zaigham Imam, who is globally known in the film festival circuit for his remarkable body of work and features stalwarts like Tigmanshu Dhulia and Poonam Dhillon. The film has been produced by Golden Ratio films.

Shamshera Trailer Launch: Ranbir Kapoor says it was 'challenging and exciting' to play double role in the action entertainer

Ranbir Kapoor is playing a larger-than-life character for the first time in his career with the action entertainer Shamshera. Ranbir, who is coming to the big screen four years after he delivered the blockbuster Sanju, wowed everyone and also caught people by surprise when the trailer of the much-awaited film dropped! Ranbir is playing the father, Shamshera, and the son, Balli, in this revenge spectacle! This is the first time Ranbir is playing two characters in the same film!

Ranbir spills the beans on the fact that he was only approached to play Balli but he convinced producer Aditya Chopra and film-maker Karan Malhotra to trust him with the character of Shamshera too! He says, “When the film was narrated to me, it wasn’t really offered to me as a double role. But when I heard the story, my immediate response to Aditya Chopra and Karan Malhotra was that let me play the father also!”

He explains, “Because it is such a great role, it is such an interesting, juicy part for an actor to play. Then, I really had to convince Adi and Karan. I think after that Karan did a couple of look tests and that’s when he got convinced also. So, initially, it wasn’t offered to me but it hooked me thoroughly as an actor. They were two unique characters and for an actor like me, to play two distinctive characters and make them different was very challenging and very exciting for me.”

The story of Shamshera is set in the fictitious city of Kaza, where a warrior tribe is imprisoned, enslaved and tortured by a ruthless authoritarian general Shudh Singh. This is the story of a man who became a slave, a slave who became a leader and then a legend for his tribe. He relentlessly fights for his tribe's freedom and dignity. His name is Shamshera.

REVEALED: Shah Rukh Khan has a 20-minute role in both R Madhavan’s Rocketry – The Nambi Effect and Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra; SRK to be back in cinemas after 1287 days

Shah Rukh Khan was last seen on the big screen in his VFX-heavy home production Zero (2018). It released nearly three and a half years ago. And due to its mega debacle, the superstar took a break to introspect and carefully chose his next project. Due to the lockdown, the hiatus got extended by nearly a year. The good news for his fans is that he will now be seen in as many as three films in the lead role – Siddharth Anand’s spy actioner Pathaan, Atlee’s massy entertainer Jawan and Rajkumar Hirani’s light-hearted drama, Dunki. All three films will release next year.

For all those Shah Rukh Khan’s fans who can’t wait till next year to see him in cinemas, there’s good news. He’ll be seen in a special appearance in two films, both of which will be released in 2022. The first film is Rocketry – The Nambi Effect. It is directed by R Madhavan who also features as the male lead. It is based on the life of Nambi Narayanan, a former scientist who was falsely accused of espionage. The other film is Brahmastra, the much-talked-about sci-fi fare, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan and Nagarjuna.

Bollywood Hungama has learnt that SRK doesn’t have a blink-and-miss role or an appearance lasting just a few minutes in these movies. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “In both Rocketry – The Nambi Effect and Brahmastra, the superstar has a screen time of nearly 20 minutes. In both films, his presence is said to be crucial to the narrative. For SRK fans, this can be a nice treat before he appears in all his glory in Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki.”

Rocketry – The Nambi Effect will be the first film to release out of the two. The source continued, “Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero was released on December 20, 2018. Rocketry – The Nambi Effect releases on July 1. In other words, SRK will be seen on the big screen after 1287 days when Rocketry – The Nambi Effect hits cinemas!”

Brahmastra, meanwhile, releases on September 9 this year.

Rapper Raftaar and his wife Komal Vohra separate after 6 years of marriage

Popular rapper Raftaar and his wife Komal Vohra have parted ways after six years of their marriage. The two of them have been reportedly living separately and filed for divorce in 2020.

According to several reports, the proceedings of their separation had been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. But, they will be now signing the divorce papers on October 6, this year. “Both have moved on in their respective lives and the couple, along with their families, remain cordial,” the source told Hindustan Times. BTS to hold global concert to bring the World Expo 2030 to Busan

Pop titans BTS, the newly appointed ambassadors for Busan’s World Expo 2030 bid, announced that the group would hold the Global Busan Concert to support the nation’s bid to host the 2030 World Expo in Busan Metropolitan City.

HYBE’s Chairman Bang Si-Hyuk and CEO Park Jiwon, and Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City Park Heong-joon signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) this morning at the Busan Metropolitan City Hall to promote Busan’s bid for the World Expo 2030. As part of the agreement, BTS as ambassadors will hold the Global Busan Concert in efforts to bring the World Expo 2030 to Busan.

The memorandum covers joint initiatives for Busan to succeed in its bid as the host. It includes BTS to: Act as the ambassadors;Hold Global Concert in Busan, activities to appeal to the members of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE); Personally introduce the proposed site for the BIE Enquiry Missions; Serve as the ambassadors at South Korea’s presentation session; Be present on the election day to support the bid; Provide photos and videos for the city's digital campaigns, and; Spread promotional videos via official social media channels, and more.

Chairman Bang said, “Given the importance of its bid as a nation to host the World Expo 2030 in Busan, BTS and HYBE will do our best to successfully bring the World Expo to Busan. This will be a great opportunity to contribute to further development of K-Culture as well as its local pop cultures in Busan.”

Mayor Park said, “I’d like to express my sincere appreciation to the members of BTS and HYBE for accepting to be the ambassadors of the World Expo 2030 in Busan. The group’s support as ambassadors will be incredibly helpful in stepping up our efforts to bring the World Expo to Busan.”

Janhvi Kapoor who made her Bollywood debut with Dhadak, is currently busy shooting for her upcoming films. Amidst that, the actress signed on an interesting venture which will bring her together with father Boney Kapoor for the first time. Producer Sandeep Singh Bedi recently announced that he will be getting the father-daughter duo for the first time onscreen. However, it is not for a film but for an advertisement.

Janhvi Kapoor and Boney Kapoor will be coming together for the first time but it is yet to be seen if they will reprise their real life roles onscreen.  Although details of the ad weren’t revealed, Ricky Singh Bedi aka Sandeep Singh Bedi has confirmed the project by sharing a photo with the two of them.  While Boney Kapoor generally maintained his role of a producer and behind the camera, he is supposed to be making his big acting debut with Luv Ranjan film starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. It seems that the producer will be doing yet another screen appearance and this time with his daughter.

Speaking of Janhvi Kapoor, the actress has a number of projects in her kitty. She will next be seen in the OTT release Good Luck Jerry which is a remake of the Nayanthara starrer Tamil film Kolamaavu Kokila. It will be followed by a series of films like Bawaal with Varun Dhawan, Mr. and Mrs. Mahi with Rajkummar Rao among others. Shamshera Teaser: Ranbir Kapoor is a cross between Messiah and Robin Hood fighting ‘tyrant’ Sanjay Dutt

Shamshera is onscreen Sanju v/s off-screen Sanju. Ranbir Kapoor, who played the role of Sanjay Dutt in the latter’s biopic, is all set to fight against him in Shamshera. While the two actors will be sharing screen space for the first time, it will also feature him opposite Vaani Kapoor, yet another onscreen pairing that will be explored for the first time. Before the trailer that will release later this week, YRF gave us a glimpse of the film with 1:21 min teaser.

The teaser starts with setting up the tyranny of Shudh Singh, played by Sanjay Dutt. Lavish sets, sand dune fight sequences, and exploitation of poverty add to the effect of the teaser. While it briefly reminds you of KGF Chapter 2, possibly because of a similar character played by Sanjay Dutt, the teaser showcases that Shamshera and his story is set against the backdrop of a different era and ancient times.

The teaser is accompanied by some powerful verses that go, “Saanson mein toofano ka dhera, nigahein jaise udte hue cheel ka pahera, koi rok na payega isse, jab utte yeh banke sawera (A storm encircling his breath, with eyes of a flying eagle, No one can stop him, as he breaks across the sky like the dawn.)”

Directed by Karan Malhotra, the trailer of Shamshera will release on June 24. Produced by Yash Raj Films, the film will release on July 22. This period action drama will be Ranbir’s first in the historical space and will see the actor playing the role of a legend who will rise to save the oppressed. His character is more like a cross between Messiah and Robin Hood. Set in the fictitious city of Kaza, this is the story of a man who became a slave, a slave who became a leader and then a legend for his tribe.

The most awaited film of the season, JugJugg Jeeyo, is all set to release in two days, on June 24. Starring Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor and Kiara Advani, this family entertainer has generated a lot of hype due to its entertaining trailer and chartbuster songs. The advances have opened a few days back and the ticket sales seem encouraging. Hence, the film is expected to open well.

Bollywood Hungama has found out that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had passed the film, way back on June 3. Interestingly, JugJugg Jeeyo was given a U/A certificate with zero audio or visual cuts. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, was 150 minutes.

However, on June 15, the makers reached out to CBFC yet again after they made a few changes. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The song ‘Rangisari’, which was released around two weeks ago, has now been added to the film, during the end credits. As per the duration of the songs, the length of the scrolling credits was adjusted.

This reduced the duration of the end credits by 1 minute 34 seconds. Secondly, around 16 seconds of the film were further reduced when the song ‘Ik Mulaakaat’ was replaced by ‘Nain Ta Heere’. Initially, the makers had played ‘Ik Mulaakaat’ to depict a crucial sequence in the film. However, it was replaced by ‘Nain Ta Heere’ as the makers felt that the track suited the situation in a better way.”

The source continued, “Thirdly, a word in a dialogue was replaced in the first half of the film. In all, 1 minute 50 seconds of the film got reduced. As a result, the runtime of JugJugg Jeeyo is now 148.10 minutes. In other words, the film is 2 hours and 28 minutes long.”

Drishyam 2: Ajay Devgn, Akshaye Khanna & Tabu starrer to release in November

After Mohanlal starrer Drishyam 2 accolades and good reviews, Ajay Devgn and Tabu will reunite for the sequel to their suspense thriller by the same name. The actor, who made the character Vijay Salgaonkar iconic, will be reprising the said role for the sequel whereas Tabu will be seen as IG Meera Deshmukh. With Ishita Dutta and Shriya Saran as Ajay’s daughter and wife respectively, the film will release on November 18, 2022.

While the sequel will retain most of its older star cast, this one is expected to include popular actor Akshaye Khanna in a pivotal role. A source close to the film said, “Indian Cinema’s much-celebrated character is all set to take us on yet another thrilling journey this year on 18th November. Promising to take it notches higher in thrill, drama and excitement, this sequel will take Vijay and his family’s story beyond imagination.” The team will wrap the film shoot today in Hyderabad.

On the other hand, Ajay Devgn took to Twitter to share the poster and make the announcement of Drishyam 2’s release date. The superstar also tagged the entire team of Drishyam which included Akshaye Khanna, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, and Ishita Dutta.

Superstar Ranbir Kapoor is playing a larger-than-life quintessential Hindi film hero for the first time in his career with the action entertainer Shamshera. BREAKING: Vaani Kapoor to play a porn star look-alike in Dinesh Vijan’s Sarvagunn Sampanna

Since her debut with Shuddh Desi Romance, Vaani Kapoor's limited screen space in films has been noticed. Her presence in movies like War and Bell Bottom did get her lauded by audiences. However, post the success of Ayushmann Khurrana’s Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, which saw her playing a trans woman onscreen, Vaani’s decision of foraying into films seems to be progressing. The Befikre actress is now looking for meaty and challenging roles that give her a scope to perform and prove her mettle. And it seems she has already bagged one such project.

Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learnt that Vaani Kapoor has signed a social-comedy film, titled Sarvagunn Sampanna, for Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films. The women-centric film is set in the 90s and will see Vaani play the role of a porn star look-alike. “Dinesh Vijan is making a high-concept, progressive film about a small-town girl who looks like a popular porn star. It’s a special project that brings to light a very important message while entertaining the audience with its quirky storyline. Vaani plays a strong, bold, dignified woman fighting for her integrity, exposing the poor mentality of the Indian patriarchal society all along,” an industry source told Bollywood Hungama.

Sarvagunn Sampanna marks the directorial debut of Shonali Rattan, wife of filmmaker Kunal Deshmukh. Shonali has previously assisted her husband on films like Jannat, Tum Mile, Raja Natwarlal, and Shiddat and recently also worked on Goldie Behl’s Zee5 series, Mithya. She has already started pre-production on the film and will begin shooting in a couple of months. The film also marks a new beginning for Vaani Kapoor as it’s her first solo-lead film since her Bollywood debut in 2013. The actress is excited to begin this new journey and has apparently already started her preparing to get into the skin of her character.

Meanwhile, Vaani Kapoor’s much-delayed period action drama Shamshera is finally releasing on July 22^. The Ranbir Kapoor film that tells the story of a dacoit tribe and their fight for independence during British rule is set to have its trailer launch on June 24 at a grand event in Mumbai. Vaani plays the role of Ranbir’s love interest, while Sanjay Dutt will be seen as a merciless villain in this Karan Malhotra directorial. The YRF film promises to be a high-octane, larger-than-life entertainer with jaw-dropping action sequences.

Bhumi Pednekar kicks off the shoot of Afwaah in Jodhpur

Back in February 2022, it was confirmed that Bhumi Pednekar will star alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Sudhir Mishra's Afwaah. Sudhir is all set to helm this rollercoaster ride of a story, produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Anubhav Sinha’s Benaras Mediaworks.

Afwaah, which literally translates to rumours, evidently takes on the subject of rumor-mongering and misinformation. The film has gone on floors in Jodhpur and will be shot on an elaborate schedule in Alwar, Rajasthan. Taking to her Instagram, Bhumi shared a video from Jodhpur where she confirmed she had begun the shoot.

Gulshan Kumar’s T-Series & Anubhav Sinha’s Benaras Mediaworks present Afwaah, directed by Sudhir Mishra, produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishnan Kumar, and Anubhav Sinha.

Apart from this, Bhumi Pednekar recently wrapped up The Ladykiller starring alongside Arjun Kapoor. She will also be seen in Bheed with Badhaai Do co-star Rajkummar Rao.

Shraddha Kapoor to star in Stree prequel; project to kick off in August

Shraddha Kapoor is currently in Spain shooting alongside Ranbir Kapoor for Luv Ranjan’s next. She has apparently signed a new film. She will be returning to her role as Stree in this forthcoming venture, which is expected to be a prequel to the much popular horror comedy film.

While she is expected to do reprise the role in the forthcoming movie Bhediya along with Janhvi Kapoor as Roohi, this will be a different film which apparently traces the journey of Stree before she lands in Chanderi.

In an exclusive report by Peeping Moon, a source was quoted stating that Dinesh Vijan plans to build a cinematic universe just like the popular MCU but with horror comedy films. With Bhediya being added to Stree and Roohi, the franchise is also expected to have sequels and prequels of the same. If this report is to be believed, the team is currently working on the backstory of each of these characters before they meet up with each other in Bhediya and the forthcoming prequel is expected to be one of them. It is also suggested in these reports that the prequel will tell the story of a girl who had come to Stree and a series of complications that she had got along.

The said film will be directed by Marathi filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar who is currently also directing another horror comedy titled Kakuda featuring Sonakshi Sinha, Saqib Saleem, and Riteish Deshmukh in pivotal roles. While this film is said to be in the post-production stage currently, the Stree prequel is expected to kick off by August 2022. By then, Shraddha Kapoor is expected to complete the shoot schedule with Ranbir Kapoor in Spain.

Speaking about this Luv Ranjan directorial, the untitled film is said to be a romantic comedy which will see the first time pairing of Ranbir and Shraddha on the big screen.

Brahmastra: Ayan Mukerji clarifies on the scene about Ranbir Kapoor entering the temple with his shoes

The recently released trailer Brahmastra has managed to capture the interest of the audience has been receiving a lot of positive reactions. However, a scene seems to have garnered some limelight as some of them have raised objection to it. While the film is an Indian mythology fantasy drama, it has received some flak owing to a scene where we can see Ranbir Kapoor entering the temple with his shoes. However, director Ayan Mukerji has clarified the scene in the statement adding that the shot in question is about him attending a Durga Pandal and not the temple premises.

The Brahmastra scene In question features Ranbir Kapoor proceeding towards the idol along with his shoes on. Readers would be aware that as per Indian culture, footwear is always removed while entering the temple as it is symbolic of the etiquettes we follow while entering someone’s house. However, a Durga Pandal is different from a temple. Clarifying his stand on the issue, filmmaker Ayan Mukerji said, “As the creator of this film (and a devotee), I wanted to humbly address what happened here. In our movie, Ranbir is not entering a temple, but a Durga Puja Pandal. My family has been organizing a similar kind of Durga Puja Celebration for… 75 years! One, which I have been a part of since my childhood. In my experience, we only take off our shoes, right on the stage where the Goddess is, and not when you enter the Pandal.”

Ayan went on to apologize to the ones who were offended by the scene adding, “It is personally important for me to reach out to anyone who may have been upset with this image.. because above all, Brahmastra is created as a movie experience which pays respect to, and celebrates Indian culture, traditions and history. That is at the heart of why I made this movie, so it is very important to me that this feeling, reaches every Indian who is watching Brahmastra.”

Speaking of Brahmastra, the film is the first part in the Indian mythological fantasy trilogy and will star Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. It also features Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy in pivotal roles. Produced by Karan Johar under Dharma Productions, the film will release on September 11.

Karan Johar announces Koffee With Karan 7 release date with this fun video; premieres on July 7

Karan Johar will return to his off screen role of the witty host with his fun chat show Koffee With Karan 7.
